Hello all My name is Joe, although I go by my college nickname BIG-IRON. I am an old amiga guy getting back into the machines I loved so much. Im working on getting an Amiga 3000 off of ebay, I bet its from someone who posts here! any words of advice? I will need some advice on how to set her up, optimize her and get her on the internet so any help will be apprdciated. Also does anyone know of a user group in Southern California or want to get one started? Also does anyone in So Cal have Amiga stuff for sale? Im looking for a 3000 or 4000 and anything else I might need.

The first thing I'd suggest for a 3000 would be to get a Picasso96 supported graphics card to get some 256 color display modes not counting HAM. (Sure CyberGraphics also works but P96 is incorporated into AmigaOS4 if you eventually move up to a PowerPC Amiga.)

Welcome back! I've just restored a 3000D to working order. It's stock and I'm having fun with it right now. I would agree that a graphics board is a good idea depending on what you want to use it for.
The only user group I know of in CA is the one up by me here in Sacramento. www.sacc.org. I've seen a couple of other So Cal users on here.
