I have an Apollo 040/40 in my A1200 and I think it is overheating inside my tower case. Is there any way I can improve on the frankly rubbish cooling system they use? Maybe a bigger fan??

Yup, the cooling on Apollo 040s is bizarre to say the least.
The heatsink is smaller than the chip, and moved to one corner, and is too shallow to reliably take the screws holding the fan.
Every couple of weeks the fan on mine would work loose then the fan would rattle and screech about in the case :pissed:
I just cut down an old Pentium heatsink and put on a 40mm fan, stuck it to the 040 with some thermally conductive epoxy.
Be careful getting the old heatsink off, I had to use a Stanley knife blade and a lot of patience. Other people have said it`s easier to put the board in a plastic bag in the freezer for 1/2 hour,so the glue becomes brittle and comes off easier.
