WinUAE 0.8.26 testing by Cloanto almost done.

I received an email from them saying such.
 :-)  Should make AF6 a little nicer.

-EDIT-  May 27 '04 They are skipping this version,
but 0.8.27 is imminent.. :-)

How much nicer?  :-D

I'm going to order the CD version to get KX Light, I really want to breathe some life into those soulless x86 boxes. Àny one of you using it, does it generally work ok?

I know that some hardware support issues are to be expected, and naturally it does not come with a nicely tuned Amiga environment with nice icon sets and such.. But is it a good product in principle?

Why not download it and test it yourself?  :-?
It's half the fun! :-)

I am not sure yet how to utilize this version, are you supposed to set up a linux partition in order to write data or use CDRW? doh?  It can't see my fat32 or "amithlon" partitions  :-?

I think KX Light only comes with the AF 6.0 CD?

WinUAE I will certainly download and test drive again, but I am interested in where Cloanto is going with the combined Linux distro and Amiga emulation. Is it worth getting the CD? :-)

Sorry, I meant WinUAE 0.8.26! :-)

With regards to the CD however, although the idea of Amiga emulation booting from CD rather than Windows sounds appealing at first, it doesn't interest me personally. Since I use Windows XP everyday anyway and have it more or less running continuously, I would have to deliberately close down Windows to boot from the CD to use the GNU/Linux version of UAE rather than staying in Windows and using WinUAE, making it all seem rather pointless. Plus, WinUAE is by the far the most supported, updated, and advanced version of UAE, and in my opinion is also the fastest and most stable. I'll be sticking to WinUAE! But if you don't have any Amiga ROM's or want pre-configured WinUAE configurations and hard files etc. then obviously purchasing the CD will be a preferred option.

Steve.

Looks like I lied a bit-received this today from Cloanto.

We are going to skip this version I am afraid, too many issues. But (and because of this) .27 is imminent.

Well, if it spurs on a newer version of UAE :-)

AmigaForever, being a commercial app is helping to drive things forward. Everybody wins :-)
