Title: Amig 500 PAL/NTSC?
Post by: TjLaZer on May 19, 2004, 05:53:49 AM
I have a Kick 1.3 A500 with A501 512k RAM expansion card installed.  So it has 512k Chip and 512k Fast.  Can I boot to PAL on this or do I need the Fat Agnus 1MB?  I tried the tool BootPAL and it says I need the 1MB Agnus.

You need the 1M Agnus.

You don't need one meg of chip ram enabled, but to use a true PAL mode (not a wacky hack), you need at least Agnus 8372.

Later Amiga 500s (Rev 6 and up?) came stock with this chip.  A simple chip swap on my Rev 5, and I had true PAL available.  I don't know what might need to be done on other revisions.
