Post by: rsilton on May 16, 2004, 09:01:33 PM
I need to replace the battery on my Amiga 2000.  Where can I get a new one?

Er...welcome to a.org. :-)

Redrumloa is known to have a hoard of replacement batteries.

Real life should have a ####ing search function, or something. I need my socks.

Tell me about it, I just spent 3 days looking for my Palm IIIc.

If you source a battery anywhere else either use a NiMH Varta barrel cell or there are a number of hacks where you can use coin cells/cordless phone batteries, etc. check aminet for instructions.  Essentially if it is rechargeable fewer modifications have to be made to the motherboard. Redrumloa's are Varta direct replacements.  There are other places to get NiCds but eventually you'll just have the same problem.

I recommend removing the old battery and NOT replacing it with a new one.  Your Amiga 2000 computer will work just fine without a battery.  The battery is only used for the clock and Amiga files do not care what time or day it is.     :-D
