Can i solder the ram chip from a ram expansion on to the A500 Board next to the ones existing already in it? Making it 1mb?
The board mentions 1mb/512k RAM.
Btw: I have an A500+ board which came with the A500.

Good question. I'm not sure if that can be done.

If the DRAMs are 44256, then yes you can use them on the motherboard. Solder 4 sockets into those blank DRAM spaces then plug in the 4 DRAMs. You will also need to cut the trace on the pads near the 68000 and the pads near the memory expansion (trap door) area. You will find solder holes near these two sets of jumper pads. Solder 3 wires to the holes near the pads that is close to the 68000 and solder 2 wires to the holes near the 2 pads (lower pads) that is next to the DRAM expansion port. Solder the other end of these 5 wires to a switch. Then you can turn off the extra 512K of Chip ram for older games. My Amiga 500 Tower of Power is set up this way. It works great. Email me and I will explain it further to you.

yes, you can solder the extra 512kb on board for have 1mb of chip, or you can add the mini mega chip too.
cheers
