Title: Voodoo 3 CGX4
Post by: punkpie on May 12, 2004, 09:41:42 AM
Hi All,

Does anyone here know if the CFX v4 commercial drivers are compatible with the Voodoo 3 PCI card running from a Mediator?

I'm hoping someone will say yes as I really want to get away from Picasso 96 if at all possible.

Cheers.

Yes, I know that CGX4 is incompatible with the Mediator. CGX only supports the G-Rex board. P96 is your only choice. What's wrong with P96 ?

Hoya!

Yes, good question... What is/are the difference(s) between the two?

@Mad

What's better with CGFX 4 is that it has a "superlayers" option wich replaces the layers in workbench. It is much faster when it comes to moving windows on top of other windows. When I so this with P96 it gets very sluggish, especially on top of ReAction windows.

This isn't P96 fault though.

Hoya!

I see. Sounds nice!

But maybe CGX4 could be use with a Mediator if someone wrote the driver for it?
Well, I fear it is a question of rights... Am I wrong?

Cheers for the answer.  I knew it wouldn't work.  damn it.

I dont mind P96 but IMO the screen display with CGX is much steadier.  P96 also seems to slow down quite a lot when a lot of windows are open.  Much more than the special CGX3 drivers used to do with my S3 Virge card.

Thanks for your help.
