Title: PPC Emulator
Post by: Belial6 on May 09, 2004, 10:34:14 PM
I don't know if anyone has posted a link to this PPC emulator, but here is a PPC emulator that actually has code.  It currently is only running Linux PPC in it's host environment, but the source is availible.

For more PPC emulation stuff, see this (http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=5702) older thread too.

Cool! Look at the tables! It seems that there is a 68k-version in developement. With user-mode emulation, and some form of Linux to AmigaOS translation, you could run Windows applications under AmigaOS!

Seriously, though, this seems cool!

PowerMac Emulator for Linux / BeOS (http://www.uni-mainz.de/~bauec002/SheepShaver.html)

The code from this could be used in UAE to emulate PowerUP/WarpOS/MorphOS/OS4 I would assume?

Check this (http://pearpc.sourceforge.net/index.html) one out.  It is already running MacOS and Linux on a PC.

I was thinking along those lines... I was going to have a play at the weekend - but let me know how it goes.

I wonder if MorphOS can still run on ~10Mhz (emulated)processor efficiently... ;)

If I recall correctly, the Mars rover probes was running on 20Mhz PowerPCs.

You could be right about the Mars probes.  AFAIK, a good number of car companys use PowerPC in the ECU modules for engine management.  The emphasis is on day to day reliability as opposed to outright processing power, and it's not like we can travel however many million miles to make sure a chip fan is seated properly ;-)
