Hi,
I'm using this program called Tequila, which lets me write an adf file, onto one or more 720k dos disks for transfer to an Amiga.
In pure Dos mode, I made the disks using the pc program and it worked ok, then I load up the program on the amiga to unpack the files, Disk1 reads ok, when its done with, I take out that disk, put in another(after waiting for the system to recognise it fully) then I hit enter.
Then I get an error 'Program failed. wait for disk activity to finish'
Then the floppy light stays on, and the machine needs to be rebooted to be usable again.
Anyone know whats wrong? im sure i;m waiting for alll disk drive activity to stop.

I dont know how much RAM you have in your Amiga, but if you have - unlike me - more then one meg then you should copy the smaller file to "RAM:", then join the bigger file with the smaller one which is already in RAM and the output should go to "RAM:" also.
what you'll need is to use a dos-command (takes less memory then a GUI-progg), possibly the "join" command but I havent tested it and dont know if it works with binary files, if not, I'm sure there are dos-commands to download from the net (aminet perhaps ?).
Anyway, if you have MORE then 1 meg RAM then your a lucky guy, if I had more ram then 1 meg I would be playing my old games right now :-(

I know using a real disk on a real AMiga has some sort of joy in it, but why not just stick to a later version of WinUAE since you have a PC? Its got to the point that it runs games better then many real high powered Amiga systemm do. I used it a lot for games since many didnt like my A3000.
If you plan to move a lot of files over from ADF why not get a catweasel MK III flipper? You can use it in WinUAE to write the ADF from emulation to a floppy as if it was an Amiga then pop it in your A500. They are less then $100 now.

It's an A1200 and has more than 1 meg of ram.
I managed to get it to work for a few disks, but it seems kinda touchy at times.
I dunno...WinUAE isn't the same really :)

@borat, you have A1200, great, you have 2 meg RAM (at least) and OS 3.0 (at least), so even if the a "join"-like command that joins binary files doesnt exist in the c-directory I'm SURE there are files for download, but before you look around, test the join command, I havent done it myself, make a back-up of a useless (or useful for that matter) file and then move it to a ms-dos formatted disk (720k-formatted offcourse), then download it into the pc HD and use a command called bsplit (the command must be downloaded, it isnt a built in command), and then read the splitted files in your amiga and test the join command on them and then run the output (if it is an executable file that is), if it doesent work then look in the net for a command/program that joins binary-files.
Here you can download bsplit: http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/util/disk/bsplit.zip
I think there is a documantation in the zip-file for the usage.

It might just be .adf files, as IME they tend to be very flaky when restoring them to actual Amiga disks. Plus you're messing around with transferring files from a PC, to an Amiga via a splice/splice type program and of course the sometimes vague behaviour of the Amiga's PC0: commodity, so you can expect some errant behaviour.
The best way to do it is either to get your Amiga online and download the .adf files directly, before using ADFBlitzer or similar to transfer to floppy, or to use WinUAE to run Amiga emulation and access .adf files straight off.
