Someone told me that it should be possible to load KS3.1 from the hard drive, much like how Relokick works to load KS1.3 for old games.
The point being is to use OS3.9 on an Amiga 1200 with KS3.0. I have OS3.9, and I have Amiga Forever, which includes KS3.1.
Anyone know if this possible? I can't afford to buy KS3.1 chips for at least a month.
Thank you,

Yes its possible, but i would wait a month and get the real thing...there are a few updated to the rom, certain commands have been transfered there.
The funny thing is that i bought os3.9 and after a while reverted back to the old 3.1 as it suited my needs...but i did keep most of the version updates.
i got rid of reaction and workbench.library plus a few others ( i forgot which), as they were degrading my preformance... :-D

I would like to try and do this if possible. Can you advise what software I would need?
And why did you revert back to OS3.1? For games I can understand. But OS3.9 having things like archiver, browser, movie player, audio cd player, etc, it seems easier to load OS3.9 then to load these seperately.

have a look at
http://www.gfxbase.com/wbshots/wbshots2.shtml (http://www.gfxbase.com/wbshots/wbshots2.shtml)
no real info there but i thought i`d show you some good screens, hehe.
and

The machine will reset itself a few times so all the programs are loaded into memory, a real pain...
As for all the programs you've mentioned i already use other third party ( and stable) software that does the job better IMHO. Also i get better memory management ( more chip ram).

Well I don't have Blizzard board, so I guess I can't use Blizkick. I wonder if Relokick would work, as I have that already.
I'm not sure how it would work.. I gues boot Relokick floppy and then once it loads take it out and system reboots to HD. Kind of a pain, but I also want to try OS3.9.
Anyone else have any comments?

Relokick may work?
I had a look athttp://wuarchive.wustl.edu/pub/aminet/info/www/dirs/util_boot.html (http://wuarchive.wustl.edu/pub/aminet/info/www/dirs/util_boot.html)
and there are a few to try there...
good luck.

If you have an Apollo accelerator use RemApollo (from Aminet), it's excellent. Remappers usually have tools to extract the modules from the OS3.9 ROMUpdate file too so you can load these at the same time as the rekick, reducing reboots if you want. I wouldn't bother with Relokick if your CPU is, say, >030.

I have a GVP A1230 II Turbo+. It's an 68EC030 40mhz, with 8mb of RAM.
I've found a program callked MKick on aminet, but it seems to require KS1.2/1.3. I'm not sure how to use Relokick on KS3.1, as it seems to be hardcoded for 1.3, (hence the executable Kick13).

I just read that this GVP board has the ability to remap Kickstart from ROM to RAM to speed up system, and doesn't require MMU. Maybe this could be used somehow?

It can be done, but I wouldn't use it for a reason not to get those nice ROM chips eventually.
-
Yeah.. I plan to.. But in the mean time... :) Have any ideas on how I can do this?

MKick is for 1.2/3 ROM machines. Some others JUST remap the original ROM for speed increase, others need a MMU. If you really can't wait a month look at SKick.
