Hello all,
A few years back, I stumbled upon a game. It's like this...
setting: I'm not sure if it's post nuclear new york city streets.
chars: Two guys with a pea shooter at first.
enemy: all people(mostly gangsters, punks) in the city(all with guns and such) including and old lady( this one made me laugh) with a 45 cal.
genre: vertical shoot'em. from bottom to top.
The heroes advance. you collect some power-ups that upgrades your guns from missles, spread, laser??
i didn't progress much. But I remember the 'GAME OVER' pic was a mushroom cloud.
The graphics style is like 'Chaos Engine' but the characters are a bit bigger than those on chaos.
I hope i gave enough info. That's all I could remember it.
(It's not WARZONE or ikari cause they all start in jungles)
So anyone knows it. Kinda miss though. It's cool and funny in a way they kill all people.
Good day to all AMIGANS! :-D

Hmmm... New York Warriors I presume.

@Reynolds
Hey thanks. :-D
I think that should be it, but I want to be sure. Does anyone know a screenshot of it and where I can still purchase one?
Good day to all Amigans! :-D
Ah I found a review but not in English though :-(

COOL!! There's even a Ninja REMIX!!
Good day to all Amigans! :-D

I agree, almost certainly New York Warriors (http://hol.abime.net/?id=1000).
-
Hoya!
I confirm, it IS Mew York Warriors.
The scrolling in not entirely vertical, for you can move back and forth, right?
Moreover, some of the enemy gangs are called Killer Klowns, Ramboids...
You can even be shot by guys in jetpacks?
If you answered yes to all these questions, well... It is NYW. ;-)
Be funky

Yup that's the one. Thanks. Although I just have no idea where to get it though(legally). It seems a rare find. Thanks.
although I have not seen 'guys in jetpacks'. Just played the start of the level. I got wiped out then. Darn those old joy sticks!
anywayz!
Good day to all Amigans! :-D

This game has one of the coolest soundtracks that I have heard a computer game have. Everything about "New York Warriors" smells like cult for me.
But I have never finish it =(, But one day, I will! :-)
-
Argh, New York Warriors.
That is one HARD game :-(
I think i never ever got beyond the bridge...
-
@mrsad
There was a bridge? :inquisitive:
Yeah, that was a really tough game.

Isometric games and top down ones always seem to capture my
imagination. If you like Chaos Engine type games I urge you to
investigate the multiplayer-only Brutal Homicide 1 & 2 on Aminet.
Both are coded in Assembly language and have amazing attention to
detail. I've never had so much gameplay for free in my life!
Also, if you like old ladies in your games I heard Worms: Director's
Cut had a nuclear old lady as well as ming vase, concrete donkey,
and a sheep-strike amongst others.
Another game like Chaos Engine would be Mercs on Megadrive(/Genesis),
did that ever get ported to Amiga? Predator 2 might be another one in
a similar urban top-down style.
Also, come to think of it James Bond is a hilarious top-down shooter
for Amiga PD. It has an expansion pack to turn it into "You only live
twice" or something, the sound samples were hilarious.
:-D :-o :-D

Alien Breed: Tower Assault has got to be the finest game of this genre. Shame it always crashed in two-player on the CD32 after spending hours getting so far.
Watchtower was one of the last commercial games I bought in a shop on the high street too. Worthy of a blast!
