I got a Roctec for my A500 Harddrive on Ebay so now obviously I want to put Workbench 1.3 on it.
Now, being a bit of a monkey I've just Copied it to the Harddrive. This means it doesn't boot. I just get an AmigaDos screen. So I know I have to make it the boot partition, but I don't know how.
Is there anyway I can just copy it to the harddrive so it boots straight without any faffing?
EDIT: Forgot to say it didn't come with the Roctec install disk, so I downloaded a copy and put it on to disk, but that won't load.

Where did you get the Roctec install disk from ??
I have heard the one on Amiga-Hardware.com is broken.
If your install disk is working correctly then all you
have to do is boot from that disk and format and partition
the drive with it. From what I remember, Roctec uses
a non-standard SCSI and can only be setup with its own
disk.
If you need a working copy of the install disk I can
EMail you a 'DMS' copy that works, just EMail me and ask.

aaaah, yes I did get the Roctec install disk from Amiga-Hardware
if you could email it to my junkmail: adam_underhill at hotmail that would be very cool
Cheers.

This means it doesn't boot. I just get an AmigaDos screen.
This could simply mean you copied wour WB to the wrong partition. If you get an AmigaDOS window, the HDD at least has started to boot, just didn't find the startup-sequence.
From this HDD-AmigaDOS-Window enter the following command:
df0:c/copy df0:#? "" all
So you copy the contents of your boot floppy to the correct boot partition.
Bye,
Thomas
