Hello,
Because it is my birthday today, i am thinking about purchasing an Atari Lynx off ebay or internet. I used to own one, nice machines, but got beaten by the mono Gameboy for some reason. Anyway, ta-ta! :-)
-
I always preferred the GameGear :-P
-
@Vincent,
Already got one! :-) Infact, i was just on my way on getting Krusty's Super Fun House for it - £6.
-edit-
Oops!
-
I remember seeing these things when I was little and they were about twice as big as I'd imagined when I saw them in catalogues.
Isn't there a Lynx emulator for the GP32? Or is this just one of those Atari hardware fetish things? ;-)

@that_punk_guy
You are right! Check GP32 Xtreme (http://www.gp32x.com) It is good to know that you also havbe a love for GP32! :-) That is why my love for Lynx's has reawakened - having said that, i have a love for loads of old computers! :lol:

Gotta love the GP, it made me get a NeoGeoPocket because I liked the emu so much! A new Lynx emu is due out soon as well, Once the new BLU comes out, whatch for lots of ebay sales of FLU and non-FLU units. And someone is doing an amiga EMU!
-
Happy Birthday CU_AMiGA! Have a pint on me! :pint:
-
Sh*t, I forgot! Happy birthday, dude. :-)
-
Congrats! Here, have a beer! :pint:

Get the Alpine games (http://www.ataritimes.com/lynx/reviews/alpinegames.html). This game is graphically stunning! Also, aother favourite would be Zarlor Mercenary... Just BRILLIANT! The best vertical shoot em up I've ever played!
Lynx kicks arse!
/me np Evergrey - More than ever
-
Cheers guys! :pint:
Didn't go out yesterday, but probs will tonight!
Anyhow, back on topic. I used to own an Atari Lynx, before the backlight broke onit. I had some of the rarest and best games for it:
Lemmings
California Games
Paperboy
Chips Challenge
Klax
Xenephobe
Hard Drivin'
Batman Returns
I wish i kept them bleedin' games now, but i suppose i can start collecting games again. All this talk of an Atari emu on the GP32 Xtreme boards have wetted my appetite on getting a Lynx again. However, i think that Lynx and Amiga emulation is a LONG way off.

:lol: So did I!
Happy birthday dude! :pint: :pint: :banana:

Avoid Hard Drivin' at all costs. This game is a total mess... absolutelly atrocious! Read a review for the Lynx version here (http://www.ataritimes.com/lynx/reviews/harddrivin.html)
-
Went out yesterday and had a few games of pool!:-D I seemed to have lost my appetite for boozing though ever since i got that bloody terrible hang over!:-?
Anyway, the problem with Lynx Hard Drivin' mainlt was cos of the sheer slowness of the game, plus the steering was jerky and stiff. Oh, how i wish Alien vs Predator was finished.
Looks like my move on getting a Lynx has hoit the rocks, looks like i will have to wait for the emu to arrive....

That's perfectly natural, and quite good for you. ;-)

@that_punk_guy
Actually i made an amazing discovering. I have now gone off:
WKD
Fosters
Carling
But i can still gulp down Stella Artois - and lets face it, only Belgium make the best lager ;-) I don't mind Carlsberg either! :-) Carling is over hyped crock of {bleep}e and tastes like dog piss.
As for the Atari Lynx, i have now paid £40 for one and 6 game, plus a PSU. Should be here soon along with my GP32. I am about to get Chips Challenge as well. I heard that game was impossible to complete.
Just thought as well, Hard Drivin' is a poor mans Stunt Card Racer!

Sorry dude, happy belated birthday! :pint:
So you got it then? Good stuff :-D

@Karlos
Cheers! :pint:
Just going to check whether that guy got my cash. And after that..... THE LYNX GAMES HUNTING BEGINS! :-D

IIRC the Atari Lynx was developed by some of the old Amiga team way back when. I remember being very impressed that a handheld console would display 32 colours from 4096, with ST beating audio etc in 1990. I'm sure that RJ Mical was involved somewhere in the Lynx's development...?
So you can console (groan) yourself in the knowledge that the Lynx is spiritually an Amiga of sorts....
-
Yes. The bloke got my money yesterday so i should get it next week along with GP32. The Lynx were made by the designers of the Amiga as well as the crew from Epyx and Atari (i think).
-
I was ambushed by my GP32 and Atari Lynx this week through the post. To top that off, there is still some hope in me recieving that PPC card off Bernd Binder - is this my lucky week?
I am now going to bid for Lemmings on Atari Lynx - DON'T YOU TRY AND STOP ME! :-)
-
I think it certainly is your lucky week. :pint:
-
Oh yeah, and we got that work extension as well sumner! :-) :pint:

Yeah. I have just been doing some random searching and just discovered that Atari Lynx development was done on an Amiga 2000 (DoomMaster clapping). AMAZING! Some people may already know this but i have just found out, anyway here is a link:
Atari Lynx Development/Prototypes (http://www.backntime.net/Atari%20Games/Lynx/Prototypes/FrameLynxPrototypes.html)
And even more amazing, is the Atari Lynx development systems are for sale! *SHOCK* :-)

I have only got the Atari Lynx (along with PSU and case) and Batman Returns game so far, as the other 5 games have been lost in the post. So i need to start hunting for games now. Anyonme here own Klax?

funny, for quite a moment I thought I was really interested, until I read this:
All this can be had for only $2000 + shipping each

Same here. Shame!
