Title: OS 3.1 install disk crashes with Blizzard-1260
Post by: PulsatingQuasar on April 30, 2004, 12:08:21 PM
Hey all,

I have a strange problem. I have put a Blizzard 1260 in my A1200 and want to reinstall it. If I put in the install disk of OS 3.1 it crashes after loading a while.
If I put in the Workbench disk, it loads without a problem.

Why is this? What is the difference between these 2 disks that 1 will load and the other won't.

Hope somebody has an answer to this.

The install disk has the old C= 68040.library. Your board probably needs the 68040 dummy library which redirects to the functions in the P5 68060.library.

You could turn your card off with '2'. Install the Workbench on your HD and your 060 library disk from DCE or Phase 5. There is a website with information about the Blizzard 1260 at this link: http://www.geocities.com/Area51/1739/1260.html

AS Roj mentioned, the install disk have an 68040.library placed in the libs drawer. If you copy all the libs needed for the Blizzard 1260 (if you have enough free space on the disk) then this problem should disappear.

I dont know if it's enough just to erase the file, as I haven't tried it; I just load the Workbench disk, and then load HDToolBox from the Install disk.

Yes this is a library problem alright. Turn of the card by holding down "2" under boot and install WB and the new 040 and 060 librarys.

I had the same problem with my A1200 with B1260 and then even more problems with my A4000 with CSPPC060 as it don't have a fallback mode so I just made a modifyed install disk with the extra librarys on disk, works like a treat. :-D
