Hold my hand mommy, I'm scared....
I just about broke down and cried. My 1200. My COMMODORE 1200. One of the originals off the line. My faithful companion for over a decade. I smoked it today! (Don't ask. It was stupid. Let's just say I have a bad history with Kingston memory.)
I have a little burned spot near where the power supply connects. It actually looks like an easy fix. (A little fresh soldier, maybe a wire to jump the connection.)
I'm just too chicken to @#&% with it. It looks like anybody good with a soldiering iron could whip it out in about fifteen minutes. (Even a PC tech.)
So. Anybody have a recommendation as to who could do the work? Somebody Amiga proficient would be preferred (since they might already have a power supply handy to test with, etcetera). U.S. repair would be nice, too (just to make payment and shipping easier). I'm stripped down to a bare motherboard right now, but I could remount any components as needed.
I could detail exactly where the burn is, if somebody thinks they could walk me through it. (Ugh.)
So? Here we go....

Software Hut told me about a guy in the mid-west that does motherboard repairs, mods, etc. Send them an email for his number.

for the record, it isn't me, my A3K died in a very similar fashion.

Not sure about the USA, but I have send off a A4000 MB to Amiga France with excellent service! Got it back like 3 weeks after I mailed it out too! Good prices too. I am about to send off 2 more MBs out for some repairs. Wish there was something local to Seattle for repairs, its a shame I have to mail them to France...

Hoya!
Yes, there are still some good Amiga experts in France.
It is not that bad a country after all! ;-)

I burnt out a trace going from the expansion slot on my a1200 mobo and have limited experience with soldiering and stuff. But i managed to bridge the burn with a normal soldering iron a piece of wire and some solider

@ MrBang :-)
Well, too bad :-( but as said by tjlazer and mad, JJ of www.amiga.fr does a very good job for all kind of Amiga repairs :-) He is especially good at salvaging PPC cards too :-)
You can send him your MB with confidence :-D
@mad :-)
You said it! France is one of the beautifullest place on earth :-) and not only for Amigans ;-)
