Title: Sound Card Comparison
Post by: jjans on April 29, 2004, 12:06:18 AM
Hello guys.

I came across a new PCI sound card that is a C3DX CM18738/PCI 6 Channel LX. It supports CRL® 3D Audio technology(HRTF 3D positional audio) and Aureal®?s A3D®.

What I already have onboard my mobo is an Avance AC '97 Audio which is  fully compliant to AC'97 specification rev. 2.2(what ever that is...)

I run 3D games and voice recognition software on my WIN XP system, and have precious little knowledge on sound cards more advanced than the old 4 channel Paula chips on my Amiga...

My question is this:

Is there any performance advantage/disadvantage to installing the new PCI card other than compatibitly with older joysticks requiring a game port?
