Hi,
I noticed the link to MooBunny is gone on Ann.lu
Is this related to the fact that MooBunny runs on Genesi payed server? (Or something, cannot remember it exactly).

Christian just doing some house cleaning, no doubt.
It's his site :-)
-
@bloodline
It's his site
No doubt about that. But I suspect it has to do with what I mentioned.

Someone pointed this out in a thread on ANN a while ago and Christian never replied and in the end the thread was removed.
There's obviously a lot going on between BBRV and CK at the moment and Chris has obviously decided that it's in his best interests to keep quiet about it. Whether Chris decided to remove it himself or whether he was told to remove it by someone else is probably something we're not going to find the answer to for quite some time (if ever).
Have you also noticed how the "flaming" on ANN seems to have died down a hell of a lot? Amazing :-)
PS. How's the weather in Thailand at the moment? I'll be vback in China in a few weeks and one of my friends there is considering a trip to Bangkok. I don't know if I'll be able to manage it myself though :-(
-
@Darrin
I think it is good of him to keep quiet about everything. Really when it might go a bit further. As I understand he still has to recieve payment.
It's REALLY hot here. At the moment I am not in Bangkok. Up north in Lampang just back from Chiang Mai. Sunday we should be back in Bangkok. In a short time we will move to Lampang. To get away from the horrors that Bangkok can bring. Then it's clean and fresh air, surrounded by trees, next to a soccer field and a porch to sit on and drink my beer. :-)

Coder,
With all intended respect, don't you consider whining about links from front pages of personal sites a bit petty? {bleep} like this is exactly why I removed the "top links" from the front page of Amiga.org and went with "recent links". Everyone who runs a site demands to be listed on your front page and if you're not, it becomes yet another whiny thread about non-important links.
Christian owns ANN, Christian adds and removes links at his own whim. BFD.
I got sick of this same exact whining on ANN, sicker of it on Moobunny, and I've finally tossed my cookies over it being whined about here. I'm not suggesting you specifically are whining, but you did start it here.
Just my opinion, in support of fellow webmasters being able to run their own sites the way they want to without being attacked or whined at for every little change.
Besides, if anyone has the right to whine, it's me, because I own moobunny.com (the domain name). I'm not whining about it, so why are you?

The last bit of the great conspiracy theory now slides into place :-D
Sorry, couldn't withstand :-) My thousand apologies :-)

:lol:

Wayne,
I don't consider this whining. If you think it is that's fine with me. I just notice something and I just want to know why. And what better place then asking it here. I thought that this was the place I could ask something like that without being labelled whiner. It's not to stir up things or something. I have a real interest in facts. I did not know you owned the domain. So my whining led to something usefull. :-)

The best place to ask, is via an Email directly to Christain :-D

I've noticed the tone on serveral boards has
tempered a bit lately. But I wasn't go be the
first to say it and cause a jinx. :-)
@Wayne
You seem a bit more stresed than your normal Zin cool self.
Rough, busy month maybe? :juggler:
Hang in there.

But it's not all bad... if you look carefully where Moob used to be... something else is there now :-)

hey, Coder, how can you see if the link is missing when you have a bucket on your head????

@Coder,
And what better place then asking it here.
Asking Christian privately via e-mail would actually be (1000%) much more appropriate. It's his question and his alone to answer. If he doesn't want to answer it, you have no right to an answer.
Asking publicly is simply trying to fan the typically stupid melodrama that doesn't need to exist. You've been around long enough to know that.

@Coder,
Before reading this, realize that I'm not addressing this to you at all. I'm just explaining my continued frustrations.
@Plaz,
You seem a bit more stresed than your normal Zin cool self.
I guess I'm getting tired (again) of constantly defending myself against the vocal minority of the very community that I'm trying to serve. Especially over petty {bleep} that doesn't really matter.
It's worse than "Days of our Lives". (the soap opera) There's always some stupid melodrama going on that simply doesn't need to exist. In this particular case, everyone on all three sites are whining about the removal of the Moobunny link from ANN. Fricking petty and it does wear on you quickly.
Instead of trying to be constructive and move the community ahead, the 5% of the vocal idiots in this community are hell bent on dividing and destroying every single little bit of anything that's left. Apparently the 95% of silent majority doesn't care enough to stop them.
Then of course, we've got the larger issue of two small companies fighting it out, each trying to bleed the community for all we're worth, each about dead, each lending it's own "scent" of drama and in my opinion, it would be better if neither company were involved at all and the Amiga (as we remember it) were just left to die.
(edit : no, I don't really mean that "left to die" statement, but I'm just not enjoying this soap opera right now because of the aforementioned attacks on my character).
If I seem less than Zen about that, I apologize.

Well I don't agree there. You see it was a normal question in my opinion and no flame/fud came from it in this thread. Also there are moderators to keep it down if things got out of hand. And I also believe that everyone here knows that a question like that coming from me is ment honest and not to disturb things.
If next time anyone feels that such a question is not correct, close the thread or remove (moderators) it. I don't want it to turn into this when I only want my question answered. And it got answered so that's done. :-)

Or fear the 5% and get labelled a troll of some sorts.. Guess it's a bit like how dictatorships (sp?) can stay in control with a minority surpressing lots of others..

Message Spock?

Well I don't agree there.
Then we'll agree to disagree. It's always a better idea to go to the source than rely on heresay. Therefore while it's a legitimate question, the manner of asking it is rather suspect.
Besides, how pissed off would you and others be if I simply locked the thread, removed it, or worse yet, said "Ask Christian" then locked it?
Much respect,
Wayne

Message Spock?
No, not meaning amiga.org is a dictatorship or suggesting it.
I mean people are afraid of only a few people while there are more of them then the bullies (again sp ?). I never really understood that..

A.org is not a dictatorship.
It's more like a Pub, with Wayne as the Landlord :-)

feh! no one is afraid of anyone.
it's just that most of us either make jokes (at the "trolls") or ignore them. some of us actually have better things to do.
If i see an opportunity for a joke, i'll go for it. otherwise, it's boring to argue with wackjobs.
see my :banana:

Maybe the people here, but not on ann/moobunny.. And it does seem common in the real world (school, workplaces) as well.. 1 big {bleep} picking on several others.. (who could kick his @$$ easily if working together ;) )

Erm.... I could comment on that one, but it might be a bit to....
-
Well, here's my twopenneth worth, even if no one wants to read it. :-)
First, ANN is Christian's site and he has the right to add and remove any links as he sees fit.
Second, it is my opinion that he has started using links and editorials to play political games, first lurching towards one extreme, then another. This isn't clever IMHO and loses him brownie points in my eyes.
Third, if removing MooBunny is indeed a political gesture I think it is misplaced. The Bunny is anarchic and people rarely pull their punches there, but I have not seen any evidence of political institutionalised bias for any party. I've never seen John batting for one side or another at any time.
Lastly, if the Bunny is really running on a Genesi server (is it? It's certainly news to me), wouldn't it have suffered along with other such arrangements in the Big Meltdown?
I like the Bunny. It's messy, obnoxious place with a very low signal to noise ratio, but it is also the only place one can call a spade a shovel without being chastised or moderated for offending certain people's sensitivities or for questioning their honesty.
I think Christian is wrong to use his site as a weapon in his personal war (however justified that war may be), but it is his site and ultimately he will do whatever he pleases on it.

:roflmao: hmmm, I'd never noticed that before.... It's not just an English thing... it's certainly a British thing.
Anyway right now, my Low carb diet means I can't drink beer which isn't going down too well... I'm drinking maybe a pint of water an hour :-(

Christian is upset with Genesi for several reasons, and has cleaned out anything even remotely related from his site. If you don't know why, go browse the ann.lu history ...

Darrin wrote:

It surely looks that way, doesn't it?
and Chris has obviously decided that it's in his best interests to keep quiet about it.
I wouldn't exactly call it "quiet", but it's his site, and he decides what he does with it. I know that there are reasons behind his actions, as well as there are reasons behind the reasons. I just hope it can be solved in a peaceful way, but I fear that some things already has gone too far for that to happen in this particular case? I don't know ...
Have you also noticed how the "flaming" on ANN seems to have died down a hell of a lot? Amazing :-)
Unfortunately, the flaming died with the postings. :-( I don't like this. The "reds" went in one direction, the "blues" went in another. That is sad for a person like me, who's "center of the world" for several years has been ann.lu.

I see a potential business opportunity there! ;-) I am also collecting some interesting domains ...
:-)
Besides, I fail to see how Coder was "whining" here ...

I agree, and I wonder why that is? And the silent minority just recently got a lot bigger IMHO ...
it would be better if neither company were involved at all and the Amiga (as we remember it) were just left to die.
The Amiga died ten years ago. Really. I can prove it! ;-)
Neither of the recent attempts for a "NG" platform should be labelled "Amiga" in my opinion (they are both new deals), and it's a pity that *one* is.
-
@ bhoggett
I agree to what you say. I kind of like the "bunny" too, it serves it's purpose. And to be honest, I really haven't seen any trace of "Genesi ownership" on that site. That site is the definition of anarchy, and it *has not* played in favour of Genesi the last several months! ;-)
Besides, the "bunny" is the only site where there is any action these days. All others are pretty dull now IMO ...
-
@bhoggett,
I too like the Bunny. That's why I bought (and renew) the domain name to help out. I got tired of having to remember the flyingmice.com URL, which doesn't seem related to the site (in a mind-logic sorta sense).
I don't think Christian's actions are politically motivated. I can only guess, because to me it's not even worth asking about. We're all pretty much painfully aware that there is bad blood between Christian and BBRV. Most people can't even begin to guess what's really behind it, and it's not even really our business to know.
Taking into consideration the recent alleged legal threats by BBRV, my guess however is that Christian feels very strongly that showing any type of support for sites that are Genesi sponsored somehow puts him in jeopardy. On the other hand, he may simply not feel like dealing with it any more. There are times when I very well understand the feeling.
One thing needs to be pointed out very clearly here that everyone's more than happy to overlook. Note that Christian and crew have not stopped the news stories regarding Genesi from being posted. Neither has he (they) interfered in any of them, which I think -- all things considered -- is very admirable of him, not that he needs my admiration or even support.
I say, more power to him.
My suggestion to Christian (if you're listening) would be to pull the whole damned block altogether and put up one of the "links directory" programs which lets him post "newest links" rather than "preferred links".
Wayne
-
I always go to Ann and from there to MooBunny. Since I noticed I could not do that anymore I wanted to know why. Maybe the link would be back or something else. I know Christain had a prob with BBRV but I am not interested in the whole story. I just wanted to know why the link was gone. And it turns out that it was related to that Genesi thing. That's it. Nothing more.
I know locking down a thread or removing it gets a lot of attention. But just saying it to me I could even change it myself. No harm done.
Also these days everything is about that stuff. No matter what is started there is always a mentioning of just that. I mean I saw some Genesi related news items. I did not check it but I am sure it contains some same old Everything turns into that so it's better not to post anything. It's all going to that direction anyway. But we keep posting anyway. I know I am. :-)
I do have to buy some clothes and I am not sure if I should go for a black or blue pants. I could ask that and I am sure it will be a clean thread. But I did say blue. ;-) Just kidding, I am here to post.
