Title: TV tuner for SuSE
Post by: redrumloa on April 20, 2004, 05:35:11 PM
I finally broke down and bought a ATI TV Wonder VE, since my All In Wonder VE is broken under Linux (due to no driver support). The card was easy enough to set up, so it seems. However the bundled TV software in SuSE just plain seems aweful. It either doesn't work and just bugs out/crashes hard, or it works and has no features at all like record.

What TV tuning software do you recomend? I really want a full featured program that is easy enough to navigate and use. I am looking at Freevo (http://freshmeat.net/projects/freevo/) on freshmeat. What do you think? :-?

I assume you mean KWinTV?  If so, try KDETV it's successor.  Although, I never had a problem with KWinTV on my system.

Try KDETV then.  Don't know about the crashing.  Like I said I never had a problem with KWinTV.

Edit: Sorry, KDETV doesn't record.  Won't help you.

For watching, you can't beat tvtime. It has excellent picture quality, and a nice right click the screen for everything menu interface. It's also nice to use the arrow keys to flip channels. It, however, does not record.

For that I recoment xawtv, which is OK, not as nice picture quality as tvtime though.
