Title: Running Populous and Xtreme Racing on A1200
Post by: neofree on January 09, 2003, 07:31:02 PM
Hello,

I have tried to run Populous and Xtreme Racing on my A1200 with 030/40.  Below are the problems.

1.  Populous boots and shows the options screen, then imiediately loads the demo.  When I push the button it goes back to options screen, and then loads the demo again.  Stuck in a loop.  After messing with it I figured out that I have like 2 seconds to move the mouse over and click an option.  But when I do, it resets the Amiga.  I've tried both booting from floppy and loading WB first then loading game.  I tried turning almost everything off in boot menu, but no go.  It seems like there are timers that are going too fast.  Is there a way to slow things down?

2.  Xtreme Racing boots from floppy and gets to menu and stuff, I select options and it begins loading game reading "Loading racing circuit" or something like that.  Then it freezes.  If I push button it asks for first disks and loads again and then freezes again.  This time nothing happens no matter what I do.  Any ideas?

I think it could be either a RAM prob (lack of RAM)
or you have a card which is too slow.

thats my suggestions but don't go holding me to them.

Actually I solved my problems by using PAL mode.  :)  I am in USA and NTSC is standard here.  But most games and such that I've found on the internet are PAL.

With Populous I had to set graphics to OCS and disable cahces aswell.
