Does anyone know if there is an expansion tower kit for the original A4000T? I know it may sound a strange question, but I was wondering if there was any tower expansions available that expanded the A4000T's limited zorro slots and cramped design.

I think there was one that was advertised years ago. It added extra zoro slots or something.
I'm not sure why you'd want to 'tower' and A 4000 T though... ;)

Well, the A4000T mainboard should be AT form-factor, so any tower that will take AT boards are sufficient. Expanding the Zorro slots seems impossible though...maybe with a Prometheus you can gain some PCI slots, but I think you will block a lot of Zorro slots by using it. The G-Rex PCI adapter for the A4000T adds 3 PCI slots without interfering with the other slots, as far as I know. The Mediator would give you PCI-slots, but will cover the ISA slots. It's a choice of evils IMHO.

Cramped design? Well maybe in some ways...
I sawed off the back part of the two vertical 5.25" bays because it was blocking my CSPPC. But there's tons of space in there... You can even make three 3.5" internal bays above the psu. I'll be doing that sometime.
As for sticking it in an AT style pc tower, you will either have to make your own cutouts for the I/O ports, or look for one with properly aligned cutouts.

I have also hacked off the drive rails to fit my Cyberstorm and CybervisionPPC cards. I don't like the design of the tower cover in that you cannot simply take the cover off like most other cases, you have to lie the damm thing down to do so. I much prefer the design of alot of other 4000D tower kits where you can simply slide a single panle out to gain access to the internals of the system.

Try to place it on a large (32 cms) ATX case with at to atx kit. More space for drives you´ll get.

Yes, I have to agree the A4000T is a miserable thing to open. I never understood why they had the PSU mounted (riveted no less) a few inches from the top of the case. Waste of space. It looks big, but its actually not the sort of case you could readily stuff with drives. Its also no fun having to remove the front bezel to slide the drive chassis out if you want to get at the CPU daughterboard.
Nonetheless you gotta love the big lump :-)
