Has anyone ever put a A1000, A500 or A600 in a Tower case? Im looking at doing that.

I put an A500 with a microbotix VXL-030/Ram board and a dataflyer Hd board/drive in an enormous PC/AT desktop case.
(You know- the early ones from the 286 era that were
heavier gauge steel than most modern cars...)
I knew someone that put an A1000 in an old tower case
(same era) but I only saw pictures of that monster...

I thought about it, but then you'd have to make your own keyboard connector, right (well, except for the A1000, which I'd think it'd be sacrilegious to {bleep}ize in this way)?
I do seem to remember there being kits available to make the A500 to something more akin to an A2000, but I don't remember the details.

Well, of the 3 that you mention, the 600 is the most attractive since the mainboard is very small and it has on-board IDE. Most likely, you could mount the 600 in a Micro-ATX box with nothing more than drilling a few extra holes for the different layout of the mainboard. The only challenge there is running jumpers from the various ports to the front and back of the case.
The A1000 would be a nightmere, in my opinion. The machine is essentially a mass of daughterboards stuck together in a most unorthadoxed fashion. Don't get me wrong, the A1000 is my favorite of all Amiga's, it's just not my first choice for tower conversion projects. Plus, the front and side expansion busses would be a real pain to handle.
The A500 is not a horrid choice, but, the mainboard is a bit large and I am not sure of how that would fit in a PC tower, but, it might be worth a shot.

I have an A500 in Micronik Classic tower, made for it. It's described in the big book of amiga hardware site, but no picture. But it's identical to Micronik A1200 mini tower (=Ramiga z 5 tower).

This is going to be my next project - towering up a A600.
With a buffered IDE interface, you can get 2xCDROMs and maybe compactflash-ide interface and an HD.
Add a squirrel scsi interface, external keyboard adapter (does the lyra work with the A600?) and it might be a nice little machine for "older" games (off the hd with Whdload)
But where-o-where would anyone get a A600 accelerator these days?

Well, my father cooked and burned my idea and so as hes the one who actually bought the Amiga for us, his ruling goes. However atleast I can still run my free website service! :-D
