A long time ago I installed a drive in my A1200,(it is now in my Pegasos) and installing is very simple (I can say that because i'm not very handy). Most important is that you need to install some files from your WB3.9 CD to your harddisk. Look in the DEVS/Dosdrivers for ZIP and install them on your harddrive and then you have to look for the Iomega 'IoTools' in the Tools-directory to install your Zip-drive. If there are more questions I can ask my son to help you.
Good Luck

if you are using OS3.9 you already have SquirrelJazTools (Tools/Commodities) that helps you with both Jaz and Zip drives.
if you don't look on aminet for things like ZipTool12.lha (http://wuarchive.wustl.edu/~aminet/disk/misc/ZipTool12.lha).
altho, you may want to check out other files. there are several mount files out there, depending on the size of the zip disk.
and don't forget to use fat95. my experiance is to never format a zip in anything but fat as the most common use is to move files between AMiga and some stupid PC.
but you may have other plans. anyway, fat95 is just plain good!

Ok,i have the drive installed through hd toolbox but what if my amiga crashed?Would that mean id have to format the zip disk again? Also do you have to boot with the disk in the drive?
In the iomega tools if i scan scsi devices i get mymy drive listed but if i click on anything i get this, unable to obtain the correct buffer memory type, assuming MEMF_24BITDMA..Please use the s\"settings" menu to select the correct buffer memory for your controller.
What is the memory type?Im running a iomega IDE zip on a power flyer..
Any help is great,thanks.

Slightly OT,
Does fat95 work with ZIP etc? I use it to replace crossdos for PC floppies (and even a hard disk changer at one point) and it was perfect. Formatting from amiga was no problem, perhaps it might be fine with a zip too.

Does fat95 work with ZIP etc?
sure, why not. i mean, it sure can't hurt!
I've used PC formated Jaz disks and Zip disks with no problem.

What OS is the poster using? If using 3.1 or lower you need atapi.device. On 3.5+ just make sure you are using the patched scsi.device and a regular Zip DOS driver.
