hello again I've been absent for a while (PC crashed!)
I know this is a stupid question and I have done it before but for the life of me I can't remember how to do it.
I have a folder that is listed by name and I want to set it to icon view but it won't save the setting when I reboot how do I save the setting so it stays?
i am running os 3.9 on my A2000
thanx :-D

All you need to do is open the window, select Window>ViewBy>Icon from the Workbench menu and then select Window>Snapshot>All.
The snapshot should save your setting for you

NO IT'S NOT SAVING.
IF I RESET THE WORKBENCH AND THE FOLDER IS OPEN IT HAS THE NEW SETING IF I CLOSE IT. IT DOSENT SAVE.

Works fine here. Make sure you're clicking inside the window you want to snapshot before you're selecting "Window>Snapshot>All" from the Workbench menu.

It's because the folder doesn't have it's own icon. You are seeing the default window and icon for a folder without it's own. You need to either make a new folder (with icon) and copy the contents to that new folder, or give that folder an icon (.info file).
