Hi
There are several popular tunes on TV Series, Movies etc but it's difficult to find the title / author.
Anyone know the title of the popular classic songs:
1. Opera / classic song about Thor/Scandinavian god, usually sung by a fat lady.
When you hear the tunes, you can feel "something powerfull will come soon".
2. Orchestra (Vangelis?) about Rising Sun (the title is "Morning" or something).
The tunes is famous for timpani sound.
What is the title of the above song/tunes?
Thank you.

Hello
Thank you for the answer.
1. The title is "Ride of Valykries" (from movie Apocalypse Now)
Valykries is depicted as scandinavian lady with horned hat, brassplate, shield, and spear.
The song is from Wagner's Opera "The ring".
2. The title is "Morning Mood" or "Dawn" by Edvard Grieg.
It's sad that most people in my country are not aware about various popular classic tunes:
1. Brahms - Lullaby
2. Bizet - Toreador, Habanera.
3. Ravel - Bolero
4. Verdi - Aida, Pensiero, Anvil Chorus, La Donna Mobile.
5. Beethoven - Song of Joy, 5th Symphony, Moonlight Sonata
6. Strauss - Blue Danube, Emperor, Vienna Wood.
7. Egar - Pomp and Circumstance
8. Gershwin - Rhapsody in Blue.
9. Offenbach - French Can Can
10. Mozart - Ein Kleine Nacth Music
11. Tchaikovsky - Sleeping Beauty Waltz, Nutcracker
12. Schubert - Ave Maria
13. Rossini - William Tell Overture
14. Vivaldi - Four Season
15. Rimsky-Korsakov - Flight of Bumblebee.
16. Thomson - Rule Britannia
17. AB Paterson - Waltzing Matilda
18. DeLisle - Marseillaisle (France National Anthem)
19. DiCapua - O Sole Mio
20. Puccini - Nesum Dorma
21. Cottrau - Santa Lucia
Any other popular Classic tunes?
Thank you.

"O Fortuna" from Carmina Burana by Carl Orff.

Dang, you beat me to it :-P
I love that tune, just a pity it always seems to be over too soon. 2mins 36 is just too short :-(

Then you've not heard the original. That is quite a long piece of music

Nicolo Paganini's 24th Caprice? (Used on 'South Bank Show')
JS Bach - "Air on a G String" 3rd Orchestral Suite, 2nd Movement. And how about Vivaldi? Spring (of his four seasons) is quite recognisable IIRC. Oh and how about Handl's Water Music?
I'm sure there are loads more...

Ah, I must try to find the long version then :-)

@Vincent
Extended replay 12" remix (goes forever version) ?
Hum,
i`m sure that i read about a computer program that could mimic the style of composers and create `new` pieces...
A bit like Algomusic 2.2 i think...

Would you be able to find out the name of the program?
-

too long ago...and nothng on google...
(and it`s not `SuperConductor Pro`)
(though i did find a program to `undeform` fossils)
Link for algomusic 2.4 though ...AlgoMusic2_4.lha (http://wuarchive.wustl.edu/~aminet/mus/misc/AlgoMusic2_4.lha)

"Sunrise" from "Thus Spoke Zarathustra" by Richard Strauss, anyone? Surely one of the worst abused classical pieces ever.

Just Extended thanks, no remix needed :-)
Unless it's done by Charlie Clouser, Alan Moulder or Danny Lohner ;-)
-
I was wrong with the assumption the original "O Fortuna" was longer than 2:40 mins. The other songs on the cd are just really similar to this song.
-
Ah, ok I'll have to get that cd then :-)
-
hm, I've forgotten Prokofiev's "Romeo and Juliet" and "Peter and the Wolf"
-
And I also forgot Smetana's "Die Moldau"
and Erik Satie's "Gnossienes"

I'm not sure about any of those, however I think you really should be getting into some Baroque. In particular, some cello concerto's by Vivaldi.
:)
