Title: A1200 floppy
Post by: melott on April 07, 2004, 03:11:37 PM
I know this has been covered before but.....
Which floppys will interchange with the A1200

I bought an A1200 with (I assume) a dead floppy.
Cleaning may fix it but there are sone floppys on
EBay, A2000 ,A3000 & A4000, which will work in my A1200 ??

Any Amiga floppy should work electronically in a 1200, but getting them to physically fit is another issue. Only drives ripped straight out of a 1200 (and maybe a 600) will work without having to remove the front plate and fit a new eject button.

I just had to deal with floppy madness myself while rebuilding a 1200D, and what an annoying experience that was! I ended up just putting an old drive from a decomissioned 1200 tower conversion back in.

Correct. Since so many 1200s have been towered, I felt the need to specify.

EDIT: Also, to add to my earlier point, some drives will not fit at all - even with the faceplate modifications - they're just too thick. I think A500 drives fall into this category.
