Title: C= 1084 monitor help needed
Post by: melott on April 06, 2004, 01:42:34 AM
I have a C= 1084 monitor that the ON/OFF switch
has craped out. The monitor works fine if I hold
the On/Off switch in. If I let go of it the switch
pops out and shots off the monitor.

I opened it up and there isn't room inside really
to just hack any old switch in.

So... anyone know where I can buy a new switch (prefered),
or if someone has a dead C=1084 they would be willing
to take the switch out and sell to me.
I'm using a tooth pick now to hold the button in.

(and no, I don't need a new tooth pick ;-)

Actually, I have a busted 1084 with a good power switch. Which 1084 do you have? If it's the one that was made by Philips/Magnavox, I have the power switch, with the big square button. :-)
Let me know, I'll just rip it out and send it to you, no need for payment.

Does it look like the first monitor picture on the top of this page?

The switch comes out with the psu module on the side of the monitor. (The big plastic square stays on the front panel)

I've actually modified a few of mine to have normal PC/AT push style power switches, they're a lot more robust than the flimsy job that's designed into the 108x .. :-) It's a tight fit however.
