Hello!
I have a problem with the SFS filesystem. After I installed it, it worked great. After some time I got this error message:
======================================================
Smart FileSystem request
======================================================
Volume Program (DH1: scsi.device, unit 0)
There was an error while accessing this volume:
Not enough sectors found. The disk is in an unreadable format.
errorcode = 21
io_Command = 49153
io_Offset = 1696600064
io_Length = 28672
io_Actual = 0
======================================================
When I got this I backed up all my data and then formatted the disk and did the same on my second harddrive. But now I'm having the same error message again. How do I get rid off this error? Are PFS better than SFS? Should I try PFS instead?

sounds strange - seems you have not followed every step described in
the docs. (ie fstype in hdtoolbox, etc)

I don't remember each step exactly that I did when I installed it, so I would appreciate it, if you could explain a little bit further what you mean by "fstype" in hdtoolbox?
Thanks!

This has nothing to do with SFS installation.
Error 21 (not enough sectors found) means that you either try to read beyond the end of the disk (is it larger than 1.6gig ?) or the disk has a real physical read error (magnetical fault).
In the first case you should check and adjust the HDD size in HDtoolbox. In the latter case you should buy a new hdd and trash the old one. Before you do that your could try a full format or even a low-level format.
Bye,
Thomas

Hi jonssonj
check TWICE, your flat-cable also.
Same error on different HDs?
Ciao
PS- post more info about your config.

Hello all!
My config are as follows:
A1200T
Ultra ATA IDE controller from Elbox
SD/FF
Mediator 1200SX from Elbox
Blizzard PPC 603e/210MHz with 060/50MHz from Phase 5
Voodoo 4 4500 graphics card
Network 10/100 card
Terratec 512i soundcard
Hypercom 3+
1 4GB drive
1 10GB drive
1 CD/RW drive
And yes, I have the same error on both harddrives. I will try to remove the harddrives and insert a another one. I don't have a spare IDE cable so I can't switch that one. If the new harddrive don't work either, then it must be the IDE-cable I suspect. Where can I get a very long IDE cable for my Amiga? The ordinary IDE cable you buy for PC computers today, usually have one hole plombed and don't work for the IDE controller from Elbox.

Hi jonssonj ,
mhhh!!! ultra long ide cable? . . .and which "The ordinary IDE cable you buy for PC computers today, usually have one hole plombed and don't work for the IDE controller from Elbox"?
Onestly, i've never heard of that before but anyway, AFAIK even with PowerFlyer, if you use very long cable, you need the "twisted-pairs" model one (80 wires).
Which value of MaxTransfer are you using? (the same for ALL partitions) and in future with SFS, use 400 dosbuffers for each partition.
Ciao

Yes, you will get a lot of cables with one hole blocked - it's the "key" pin, and you can either replace the plugs on the cable (Be careful!!) or break that pin off your Power Flyer board. It's not used for anything except ensuring correct orientation of the connector, but Please Please PLEASE make sure it's the correct pin before you go breaking it!!! Then double check and then triple check. The cable will then fit as required. But again, you may get better results with a twisted pair cable (though they are a good bit more expensive).

Don't break the pin off.. A small drill bit and drill will open the hole on the connector. I Just added round IDE cables to My 1200 and it worked like a charm. The blocked hole is not solid just a thin cover.. Hope it helps

I used a "syl" (sorry but I don't know the english word for it) and it worked very well and was an easy solution.
-
even easier than drilling or snapping, just get a paperclip heat it up with a cig lighter and melt a hole in the blocked up bit.
worked for me many times.
