Title: ATX or AT PSU on a amiga 2000

does any know how to wire up a ATX or AT PSU on a amiga 2000 and where to get the C.L. = brown

lol yeah i know i'm not that silly  :lol: it says something about jumper 300 :-? i know where it is but what does it mean?

In the article it says that the A2000 get a "clock"-pulse from the PSU, wich is from pin 14.
It also says that by changing jumper 300 this pulse is no longer needed, and therefore the pin 14 isn't needed anymore either.....

hope that made sense...:)

EDIT:
(it also says that they don't take responisbility of any damages caused by this hack...:) ), but then again I guess you knew that...:)

yeah that last bit is just for people who are silly and can't wire stuff up  :-P


ok jumper 300 has 3pins how do i know if its on or off  :-?

Check out my hack docs on aminet A2000T.lha I think it was. It shows how to hook up an A2000 with AT PSU. Some of the newer A2000 motherboard revs you can change a jumper on them to get the tick signal from the video chip instead of the Amiga power supply. There's another hack (made by someone else) on aminet on how to build a new tick generator circuit for older A2000s, but I forget what the filename for that was, do a search for tick and you should find it. I might have even mentioned it by name in the tower hack doc somewhere, I don't remember.

right ok if i get a ATX psu and then get this http://www.quietpc.com/uk/images/atatxsm.jpg
and mod the AT to an amiga plug thing and put a switch on the 2 cables coming off and that should trun it on and off.


and this means i can change the psu any time i want or use that psu in a PC :-D

An AT power supply would work better with an Amiga 2000 Series computer.  The following is the color code for the wires coming out of an AT power supply:

Red = +5 volts
Yellow = +12 volts
Blue = -12 volts
Black = Ground
Orange = Power Good

Hook the orange wire to one of the black wires.

USE A MULTIMETER TO CHECK THE VOLTAGES ON THE WIRES!  Sometimes the red and yellow wires are reversed (screwup at the factory).  I know this from personal experience because I burned up an Atari 1040ST by not first checking the wires.     :-D
