In April 2025 AROS user community started a project aimed at migrating from legacy 32-bit AROS system to a modern, 64-bit base system. Today, with the release of AROS ABIv11 2026.09 this migration is completed!
This new relase brings many improvements, including new recommended hardware, USB3 support and refreshed NVidia 2D and 3D drivers. Most of the essential software has already been ported to 64-bit during the migrations period. Latest software can be found on AROS Archives. For software that could not be ported, this release comes with integrated emulator for running legacy 32-bit applications.
Today's release is a base system release. New versions of AROS user facing distributions (AROS One, AROS.games, AROS Portable, TinyAROS) are already in progress of being build and should be available soon!
