Title: Amiga OS 3.2.3, cant mount ADFs ?
Post by: mykrowyre on February 19, 2026, 06:54:16 PM
I set up Amiga OS 3.2 from Emu68 imager (without newicons).  I found I could not mount ADFs.

I updated to 3.2.3, ensured DefIcons is running, but still, when I double click an ADF it just wants to execute it and fails. Icon looks like a hammer.

I suspected maybe DefIcons needed newicons to function properly, but I just don't know.

Could someone please help :)

Thank you!

Sounds like you have overwritten the deficons with newer ones without the correct tooltypes defined.
Try copying back the original deficons from the AmigaOS3.2 CD. Then go from there.

Thanks, I'll check, but this is a fresh install from the 3.2 CD.  I haven't overwritten anything as far as I know, but I did ask it not to install NewIcons.

After your post, I read this:

"NewIcons also includes DefIcons, a package of ready-made icons which aims to provide a default icon image for all files that do not have their own associated icons"

So it sounds like DefIcons is part of NewIcons.  I don't like the new icons so hopefully I can use deficons without the newicons.
