Title: A1200NG questions
Post by: mariovieira on November 04, 2025, 06:09:31 PM
Hi,

Last week I ordered an A1200NG board with options at Amigakit.fr, since the website says it’s in stock. I also sent an e-mail with some questions but didn’t receive a reply or any indication of the board being shipped. I don’t have an order confirmation, just the PayPal receipt.

One of the questions I asked was if there was no option to add a CPU booster. I guess this past weekend made this question obsolete.  ;D

Another question is if the SD card gets corrupted or damaged (or if we want to use a bigger one), will it be possible to download a recovery image or install the system on a bigger card?

Thanks.

Edit: Almost forgot… can a usb thumb drive be used to load files on a workbench installation or does it just work like a gotek? I expect the CF card to work like that but I have this doubt about usb thumb drives…

Hi,

Congratulations on ordering the A1200NG! :)

You can plug in a USB thumb drive, and it will show up in AmiBench or your custom Workbench installation. Very handy for transferring files between computers!

When adding games, demos and applications to the built-in launcher, the easy way is to have the ADF's or WHD-Load packages on an USB thumb drive, and install them from there. They will then be copied over to the computer.

The A1200NG is a lot of fun, so I'm sure you will enjoy it when it arrives!

@AmigaOldskooler

Interesting… that means the CF card isn’t as much of a necessity as in my real Amiga 1200.

Did you ever try to use a different SD card from the one that came with the board?

Hi,

Try mailing again. They have been in USA for last week.

Not sure on why there is no option for CPU Boost, would have to check.
It can always be purchased seperate.

As AmigaOldskooler said. You can also use the CF slot to transfer or use real CF drives from old Amiga computer to boot from.

Yes, you can use other SD cards. Switched mine to 256GB.

@F0LLETT

Thanks!

Yeah, I imagined they could be in the US.

Well, for me, after this weekend, the CPU Booster seems a waste, since there will be an accelerator card that replaces the SBC… I much rather prefer to invest in that.

Well… received an e-mail today from Amigakit.fr, about my A1200NG order, informing me they have many orders and are having difficulties getting stock from the UK… although their website states there is stock available at their Luxembourg warehouse… ::) No info if there’s a waiting list or if it can be maybe fulfilled next week, next month or next year…

Disappointing, to say the least. If there’s no stock, why does the website shows it has?

Not too happy about this… >:(

They are built to order.  Ordered mine beginning of September and got this week.  They were away over the summer with various Amiga 40 events (USA) and had to catch up with August September backlog.

Still doesn’t justify the fact that the website clearly states there’s stock available in Luxembourg. Just put “built to order” and that’s fine.

It is pointless having a go at me.  I was only repeating what I'd been told by email when I made similar inquiries to track my order.  Not only that but they've had a server crash to deal with AND been away for a while at various Amiga 40 events.  That's just the UK team.  Luxembourg might be having a rubber dildo and trench-coat party for all I know.  Actually the server crash might have had something to do with it. (stock status report, NOT rubber dildos and trench-coats  :o)

I don't work for Amigakit, nor do I claim to speak for them, so your ire in my direction is not justified.  ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D

It is what it is. I ordered mine back in August and got it in October and I'm in the US! Essentially, they are always in stock, they just build it when you order it.

It really makes more sense for AmigaKit to do it this way as this is a specialty item. They don't know what the demand is for these systems. So, instead of having a stockpile of these sitting on a shelf that may not sell, it really does make sense for them to be Build to Order.

Don't worry about the length of time it take to get it. I promise that the A1200NG that you receive will be a great machine and you will enjoy it. I'm typing this message on my A1200NG! It's a great system, it just takes a bit of time to get. AmigaKit will deliver exactly what you want and not let you down.

Perhaps your parcel is held up in Customs, for Tariffs??
