The answer is it's garbage, don't use it, update manually, the author refuses to acknowledge any bugs

I would advise to download the update directly from Hyperion website and install from here instead of gonig through amiupdate.

@Stephen

Hi,

I first tried AmiUpdate as well, but that failed, so I downloaded directly from the Hyperion website itself. Unpacked the archive, then ran the installer. Worked fine. 8)

I personally found that Amupdate, always grim reepered on first use when trying to update itself.
I would then install it manually. After that not one issue, every just downloaded and installed perfectly.
However now, 3rd party downloads are missing, so it alwys fails on that.

All those problems should have been ironed out by now with the latest 2.58 version of AmiUpdate.

Of course the problem is it won't work if you try making an older, faulty version (like the ancient one on the installation CD from OS4.1FE) self-update to the newest, so the way around the Chicken and Egg situation is to get AmiUpdate 2.58 from amiupdate.net and install it yourself, before you try using it to install other things.

At least that's the way I have experienced it, and I know of several others that have e.g. created a new partition, installed FE from the CD, Installed AmiUpdate 2.58, then let the new AmiUpdate install Updates 1, 2, and 3, without any issues.

Best regards,

Niels

I used AmiUpdate to update from AmigaOS 4.1 FE Update 2 to AmigaOS 4.1 FE Update 3
 ... the update process worked fine, with no errors or hiccups.

AmiUpdate 2.58 installed in July 2025.

My system is an ancient Eyetech MicroA1-C.

Some programs on my system are now stale dated and require updates.

Cheers,
