Title: A4000T WB3.1 install on ZuluSCSI
Post by: VmanJeff on September 22, 2025, 03:05:03 PM
So I have a A4000T with 3.1 OS and roms. Attached a ZuluSCSI and created several ‘harddrives’ and made a 100meg boot partition. The tower normally boots from a SCSI drive of the 90’s era. Decided to do a fresh install of 3.1 on the ZuluSCSI for eventual upgrade to 3.2 or more depending on what the system can do (catch-up learning after years!) I don’t want to make a duplicate of the present WB since I’m having some other issues recognizing the X-surf and it’s IDE drive so figured I’d start fresh and work that issue.
I booted from workbench floppy and installed the OS on the ZuluSCSI.  Rebooted holding both mouse buttons down and chose the Zulu partition and she boots fine. For some reason I decided to disconnect the old boot drive just to confirm and then she won’t boot. There was a screen that flashed very fast in the startup then nothing but the workbench header. I had to video the startup to catch it. Not sure where to go from here

Copy libs/workbench.library from the old boot drive to the new one before you disconnect it.

For an A4000T you need special install disks because the ROM lacks workbench.library.

Oh that’s right. They left it off. But shouldn’t 3.1 have installed it!?  The floppies are specifically for the Tower. I’ll look and I’ll try it if it’s not there.
