Hello everyone! I recently got an A600GS, which I had been dreaming about for a long time. It's an interesting project, but it seems to me that it's still in the early stages of development. In any case, running WHDLoad games for the A600GS shouldn't be a big problem, but it is. I can't get a single WHDLoad game to work! I'm importing games from WHDBoot archives, which work perfectly on my other systems, including a real Amiga, WinUAE, or AGS, but on the A600GS they just don’t run. After launching, the game tries to load, the loading screen appears, and then everything crashes. What am I doing wrong? Could it be an issue with the Kickstart ROMs? I tried importing the ones I have from the Amiga Forever CD, but the A600GS doesn’t recognize them. I would be very grateful for any advice!

Did you think this was actually an Amiga ?
Perhaps you should have scanned the forums here to see how many
problems these so called NG Amigas were having.
Its been a shit storm from the start.#
You will have better luck with a raspberry pi running UAE.
-
Of course, I understand that this is far from an real Amiga, but considering that Amiga emulation is currently implemented at a very high level (AGS and other projects), I assumed that there shouldn't be any problems with the A600GS. If the ability to import games in WHDLoad format is claimed, then of course it should work.

Really, nice way to help. If you want to troll, go some where else.

Have you imported the correct roms? depends on Amiga Forever version, as earlier ones are encrypted.
I use WHDBoot archives all time.

How can I determine if these ROMs are correct or not? I was only able to import "kick40068a1200.rom". Do I need something else? I also tried importing ROMs from the Cloanto Amiga Forever 11 disс, but A600GS didn't recognize them as files for some unclear reason.

By the way, I just tried to import Cannon Fodder in ADF format. It loaded without any problems, but then it asked to insert the second disk. I switched to disk 2, and then the screen started flickering with a blue color, after which it also crashed. I have set the Amiga model to A1200, the ROM file to KICK35.ROM, enabled JIT, allocated 2 MB of Chip RAM, and set both Slow and Fast memory to 512 KB. I also selected a faster chipset and enabled Turbo Speed Floppy Drives

The State of the Art demo by Spaceballs also glitches, even with the built-in ROM. I tend to think the problem is not on wrong ROMs at all...
-
Do you happen to have OS3.2.3 ROMs? They work very well. The built-in ROMs are AROS ROMs, and not everything runs properly with those.
As for the memory configuration: A1200 -> 2MB Chip / 8MB Fast -> disable network when using ADF. For WHDLoad you can safely give it more speed, but enabling JIT is not a good idea for games.

I've just downloaded the 3.2.3 update and extracted those ROMs from the ISO, so I'm going to give it a try to see if it makes any difference.

Do these roms work in WinUAE without keyfile present? if so they are not encrypted and you should be able to import them fine.
Not everything will work properly th builtin rom. As its a replacement rom, just to boot aros system.

Kick35.rom????
What rom is that, thats not one I have ever seen before.

Guess it will be a patched Kick 3.1 with modules from OS3.5 ... there are also kick39 files floating around, based on the modules from OS3.9, all unofficial of course.
Personally I would never use those since I cannot be sure what was patched and does that result in errors with my personal installation...

I imported the Kickstart ROMs from AmigaOS 3.2.3 Update (which work perfectly in WinUAE) and also imported the Cannon Fodder WHDLoad version from Amiga Game Selector v2.7, which runs smoothly there. However, I’m getting just a black screen.
It doesn’t work! I seriously doubt that the imported WHDLoad titles are working at all... Some people claim that it all works for them, but I haven't seen a single video on YouTube where it actually works (except for what's built into the A600GS by default). It feels like I just wasted my money on nothing... I hope that's not the case.
Whoa! I finally did it! The Cannon Fodder WHDLoad version started to load at last! The problem was that I had to uncheck the "Use Faster Chipset" option, which was preventing the game from running for some reason.

Do you really think all those people (including me) are making this up ?? WHDLoad games DO run fine on the A600GS/A1200NG !
If you open the Manage ROM Files Tab, what Kickstarts are listed there ? Can you make a screenshot ??

Here's my ROM files (just in case)

Have Test WHD Archive from Canonfodder 1+2 Archiv from Turran FTP EAB , both works.
The Only thing, I have do ->Import WHDLoad Archiv and nothing other, no configuration change , only import and play

By the way, when a WHDLoad game is started for the first time, I keep getting a notice that the Setpatch is not found. Why is that, and what might it affect?
-
Well, a little update. Some WHDLoad games aren't working, but they are, however, working fine on AGS 2.7, from where I copied them. WHDLoad Autoboot initializes for the first time, and then the title exits. I'm going to try downloading those games from the Turran FTP EAB and see if it makes any difference.

I thing your problems are rom realted.

Setpatch will only be there if it's needed.
From my own experience with WHDLoad games:
1. You need a full complement of ROMs (1.3 and up). It sounds like your Amiga Forever ROMs are still encrypted, if you have a Windows install I believe the ROMs are decrypted after first run of the Amiga Forever emulator.
2. Not every WHDLoad game will work - partly because the A600GS uses JST instead of whdload. Use ADF/ISO/HDF instead, or you can run them from an Amiga OS install (you'll need to install whdload).
3. Enable "Faster Chipset" and/or JIT as a last resort. They're just as likely (if not more so) to cause problems as fix them.

Use faster chipset was added as an experiment for those requesting options for WHDBoot games, (previously default setup was always used). It's can causes quirks though and you should always start with it set to off and only turn on if you experience slow performance on a heavy blitting game. This would also explain the flickers in the ADF version BTW
