Title: New version of Netsurf for 68K
Post by: AndyFC on August 16, 2025, 06:36:30 PM
I'm just trying the new version of Netsurf (3.11) and it seems stable, relatively fast (using a PiStorm32lite), and many sites look ok (but not all). Amiga.org is one which renders correctly and I'm using it to post this message!

The file can be downloaded from: https://ami-soft.blogspot.com/2025/?m=1

(I don't have anything installed to take Workbench screen grabs so the file is uploaded from my phone)

"Use only for tests as it makes whole browsing slower not enabling much."

No thanks this isnt an upgrade.

Yes, it won't suit everyone. I wasn't able to get the last release I knew of for Amiga 68K running well at all so it's an improvement for me.

Good to know. Just surprised this hasn’t been developed any further for the likes of the 600NG and 1200NG systems. Considering the time and effort it has taken. I’m guessing this is down to licensing.

Netsurf is under the GPL, licensing is only problematic if your trying to sell the derivate work without giving back the changes and providing the source code on request.
For example including the software in a binary only package, distribution, or included with physical hardware that you are selling for profit and not providing the source code through some other means.

Im fairly sure the 68k Netsurf fork is playing by the rules.

That its not very frequently updated is far from surprising though.
