Title: Buying A1200 NG
Post by: Suavek on August 05, 2025, 06:08:01 AM
Has anyone have shopping experience on a1200.com website? How long for example it takes to get the order confirmation?

Thanks in advance for comments.

If it is official AmigaKit website it should be ok. I bought A600GS via https://amigakit.amiga.store/, made an account first.
Never had a better purchase experience, support was very helpful and delivery was fast.

I ordered 1 month ago, order still pending. I emailed them a couple of weeks after purchase asking about the status, got no reply.
A few days ago emailed them asking for a refund (since I don't appreciate my money being held indefinitely), got a reply saying it would ship soon.

They're obviously incapable of fulfilling A1200NG orders at this moment, so if you want to order one be prepared to wait months.

I talked to them last week on during VCF West show and they said these are in stock. I guess they have been busy with the Amiga 40 anniversary exhibition in California.

I wish they would change “In Stock” to “Build to Order”.

I understand that these are unique products, but having an item sit in PENDING status for two weeks or longer is frustrating on the customer. If an item is “IN STOCK” it’s ready for shipping with an update to status a day later.

I have people who are interested in this machine. More so now that I’m getting one. When questioned about it’s arrival and I tell them “It’s still PENDING” and I send them a screenshot, a bit of excitement evaporates due to the lead time.

I’m not upset about the process. I’m suggesting a bit better transparency to the customer to manage expectations. Replies to my inquiries concerning my order have been almost immediate and the communication has been excellent, providing status and explanation.

I'm also a bit concerned with shipping to the U.S. now that countries like the EU, UK, Japan and Australia have stopped shipping to the U.S.

If it does turn out to be an issue or economically unrealistic with extra fees, I may just have to cancel my order.

I preordered mine in late January, still trying to get it shipped, as I want to have the latest version of Octamed V8 and want to be a betatester for the Amigakit effort to port it to OS4.1. I daily plug this system on Reddit. I _need_ the A1200NG as the A600GS isn't really cutting it in my studio setup.

I also want to be a developer for A-Eon, for a card I am building for the X5000. I am not giving up on my multiple orders nor support for this amazing platform. I was abandoned by Commodore in 1994, bought my X5000 last year and am prepared to wait for this cool new product until it ships. I have an awesome pile of gear for my orders when it does show up.

So, you been waiting MONTHS for this thing to arrive?!

Why is it taking months?

Not sure how much more transparent you can be.
Take it know one has read bottom of product page?

Rest assured, we are building and shipping them as fast as we can (like with GS).

No worries here.  It is what it is. It takes time to build these and there’s a wait.

I prefer my build be right and a quality product versus rushed and problematic.

"Take it know one has read bottom of product page?"

Honestly, I was too excited to order one to read the bottom of the page.

It seems the wait time is approximately 3 months from order to delivery.

I just got the A1200NG package.
Funny is my dedicated 1200 Akuma Red case from RetroPassion is truly cursed as I have ordered it via eBay on 7/4 and it was lost during shipping. Then I ordered 2nd time direct and they missed my street address on the label and it made it all the way to US but here they Fedex saw missing street and decided to return it to the merchant - after caling me to establish correct address which they did. It has been over two months and it looks like I am going to be waiting another month for it. How crazy is that?

Your biggest mistake was ordering from RPUK. Not crazy at all. Plenty of other merchants who sell those cases and probably cheaper too!
Nevermind. You’ve learned a valuable lesson there……

I received an email from AmigaKit asking if I wanted my board installed in the new case prior to shipping. I replied “Yes”. So, I think I’m getting close to getting my A1200NG.

I got word from AmigaKit last week that this one is mine. I'm ready to get it.

Took AmigaKit months to deliver my A1200NG I thought they had in stock when ordering. Finally it’s here, hallelujah. Same with RetroPassion… ordered months ago and still no case. Won’t shop there again.

My NG has now moved from Ordered to Being Picked.

I think I’m going close to it being Shipped.
