Ah, you beat me to it Mikey! I was gonna post this article:
Life of Brian returning to challenge The Passion (http://www.cbc.ca/stories/2004/03/24/world/life_of_brian040324)
LONDON - The New Testament satire Life of Brian will hit North American cinema screens again at the end of April, providing a stark-raving-mad contrast to Mel Gibson's sobering The Passion of the Christ.
Along with a subject along the lines of... "If you didn't get your fill of Passion in the Religion forum...." :-D

Yep! I absolutely love The Life of Brian. IMHO it's the finest movie the Python team ever made.
How can anyone forget the empassioned speech (impediment LOL) courtesy of Pontius Pilate, in honour of his good friend in Rome....?
-
...... I'm Brian !!
NO, I'M BRIAN!!!! And so's my wife!
Hope it's released over here too!
-
WOO! :-D
Let's hope the norwegian politicians won't try to stop the movie this time!

Surely they didn't try and ban it??? AFAIR the Irish banned it until the early 90s...
When a film like Pulp Fiction (for example) can be passed without a murmur, how can anyone justify stoping the release of The Life of Brain?
-
:-o Politicians trying to ban that movie??? I thought we live in a free countries!!
-
There was a big hullabaloo about it here aswell - although I think it was mainly due to Mary Whitehouse and her minions at the NVLA that caused it :pissed:
It got passed anyways :-D

Ah, Mary Whitehouse! She actually lived not far from my home town, and I used to drive past her home most mornings on my way into college.
I have no objection to people expressing their moral viewpoint on censorship, but I bitterly resent someone else telling me what I can and cannot see, especially when they clearly don't "get" the concepts of irony and self parody.
-
Life of Brian was actually banned in Norway until 1989 :-D.
-
Sounds Groovy to me!!!
I'm going to see "THE Passion od THE Christ" (since when has a title had a double pronoun?)... and since all the reviews in the papers say it's a crap movie, I don't think I'm missing much... I read the book and that was boring. :-D
LIFE OF BRIAN!!!! I can't wait to see it in the cinema, a film like that needs to be seen on the big screen.

I hope as you were driving past you were having gratuitous sex, swearing and battering someone (all the same time) !!
She would have been more suited to the 1800's than the 21st century.

Hum,
I`ve a gut feeling that if a film like this is rubbish (according to the critics), then the spin merchants will whip up a controversy... to sell more tickets...
But i suppose that they wouldn`t want ppl to know that the film has killed a record amount, that have gone to see it...
Or that the money raised by the film companies, will be ploughed back to making films like the HOBBIT?
(hum, the work of the devil...) ;)
BTW, The life of Brian...What did Monty Python ever do for us, huh?
:-)

I drove past swearing gratuitously a few times. Having sex whilst driving my old VW Polo - although technically feasible - would have been a very cramped, uncomfortable and unsafe arrangement. :-D
I did hear stories from other students who'd claim to have left porn mags outside her house though!
