Title: Amiga 1200 PCMCIA issue
Post by: pmack on February 24, 2025, 12:16:03 AM
My PCMCIA adapter on my A1200 used to work fine. I had the computer stored for a few months and now when I turn it on everything works except the PCMCIA  reader. If there is no card in it, nothing happens. If I insert a card (I tried many, including at least one I know worked before) the computer either freezes or cannot read anything from the card (behaves as if the card is not inserted). I tried two adapters so it should not be the adapter itself. Any ideas?

Do you have expansion ram over 4MB that is not PCMCIA friendly? Other than that try re-installing or checking for the latest version of the CFO: dosdriver, fat95 and compactflash.device.

Edit: also try re-formatting the cf card to FAT32.

What is your exact hardware config.

As already posted, what RAM card. As what your describing, sounds exactly like 8MB conflict.

That was it! I do have a memory board that was apparently causing this issue. Thanks for both of you
