Title: Higher resolution os 3.2?
Post by: DavidT on February 15, 2025, 07:56:47 PM
Hello,

I'm enjoying the A600GS big time.

And i like to explore what it can do.
I was reading about to create your own system from the latest updates.

So i tried to create my own OS 3.2 version.
With Winuae i created an hdf file installed OS 3.2 took the hdf file to the A600GS  installed the rom files.  And yes everything is running. Installed MUI 3.8  Ibrowse and i'm typing this from Ibrowse at the moment on my 3.2 os.  I run into 1 tiny thing, the resolution. It is 640 x 283 +/-.  Is it possible to make this a bit bigger? if yes, how ?
Found an topic on internet with P96 driver from aminet, followed that. But nothing changed.  Did enable RTG and zorro in the A600GS. Something else i need to enable? Or is it just not possible?

thanks in advance.

Which version of P96? The OP is using P96 from Aminet.net which will be version 2.0. Newer ones are purchasable from Icomp which is now updated by THor, being latest version of 3.5.0.

After installing p96, you have to use Picasso96Mode (in your Prefs folder) to add the board and then make new resolutions. Once you have those, you can choose them from the screen mode prefs. It's not a nice process, but you only have to do it once.

If you're using OS3.2, the new Prefs/setting application is now called P96Prefs as it uses some new features in 3.2 for it's UI

Got it working by watching the youtube video
Using the aminet p96 driver.

For me the thing that did the trick was to change Devs/monitors --> uaegfx info
Boardtype=A600GS
Bigsprie=Yes

after that it is working.

thanks much Ionakley!

From my understanding. This only works with Version 3.0 of the paid for Icomp version. For 2.0 you still need to use P96mode.
I have used P96mode with version 3.0+ and this works as well. Although it is no longer packaged with the latest versions from Icomp.

I believe it works with any version. It just replaces old setup prefs.

No worries. Still prefer P96mode.

Just set the boardtype to a600gs  P96mode should not need to get involved at all.
