Title: amiga a1060 sidecar issues
Post by: amiga-chan on January 28, 2025, 12:03:21 PM
Hey everyone, I bought a a1060 sidecar a few years ago from Germany. Anyway, I tried using it today for the first time and noticed some odd behaviot. First, the sidecar doesn't turn on. Next,  I can get the a1000 to turn but it doesn't boot, goes to screen with some shapes at the bottom. It does nothing beyond this.  I was reading the documentation using a translator and I am missing some special version of workbench that it came with. However it seems like this shouldn't prevent it from turning on When I remove the sidecar the a1000 works fine.

I am wondering if the American 110V outlet is the issue? Not sure if there is an actual hardware issue with the unit itself. Well thanks for any advice. Appreciate it.

Hi!

Sidecar uses its own PSU unit, so if it's from Germany I assume it would be 220-240V version so maybe that's the problem now. And also I quote http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/a1060 (http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/a1060)

"turning on power to the Sidecar unless the Amiga is powered up can seriously damage the Amiga - use the attached power-cord extender so the A1000 is powered through the Sidecar, though this means the A1060 has to be turned on all the time even if it is unused "
