Title: "Unburdened by what has been" (Whyzzat.com's demise)
Post by: Wayne on January 23, 2025, 09:44:58 PM
Ladies and gents, I know this doesn't belong here and I apologize in advance, but it seems I can't post in the Coffee House forums any more.  I don't know how else to get the word out to all of the Amiga.org refugees that visit whyzzat.com.

On or about January 22nd, 2025, hostgator.com arbitrarily deleted the hosting, files, and everything else to do with whyzzat.com and every other domain of mine.  Put simply, we are now "unburdened by what has been".

They can't just deleted everything. Unless you had dodgy stuff on site. They didn't give you any warning?

Saying that, same thing happened to me. I woke one morning to find my entire network of sites gone.
When looking into it, they told me, it was deleted due to it being used for piracy. I was like WTF!!!!. I dont do piracy.
Turned out someone I trusted with FTP access, was using it to share files with people, :(.
Thankfully for me, I had a backup of whole site, although out of date. My users also came to rescue, with all the main downloads and sorce code, that was lost.

Do you have any backups? if you need a host, I could offer some space. Obviously I won't host anything dodgy.

I'm sure hostgator still have their own backups of your sites. If you're persistent in fighting back, you might get at least the files if not the sites restored.
