Title: Amiga 2000 not booting from SCSI harddisk when cold
Post by: Bamigart on October 16, 2024, 06:23:54 PM
Hi,

Recently, I've purchased an Amiga 2000 in an unknown condition. It (obviously) turned out to have a leaking Varta battery, which I removed before trying to boot the machine. To my big surprise the computer booted and loaded the Workbench from the present SCSI harddisk at the first attempt. Because it was quite dirty and parts of both the case and the mainboard were corroded I disassembled the computer to gain access to the affected parts. After reassembling the Amiga booted to the Kickstart 2.0 screen. Replacing the SCSI cable and trying another harddisk did not make a difference. Neither did resoldering all the soldering joints of the SCSI controller. After a while I discovered that the computer boots from the harddisk if it has been turned on for a while. This wasn't the case before I disassembled it. Does anyone have a clue where I might look for the cause of the problem? Any help is much appreciated.
