Is amigaworld.net down for everyone?
-
Yes, a couple of days.
-
Sigh, I have no server access to this site. Else it would have been sorted by now.
-
I have never been able to log into that site anyway, according to the faq help,file I’m an idiot. Even though I clicked on the activation link and it says activated. When I try to log in it says either deactivated or not yet activated account.
I must therefore be that idiot. :(

Or its set to Admin activation. I have no idea. As I said, I have no access to that site, :(.
-
Seems to be working now. Never had problems but it seems to need relogging about once a week.
-
Seem to be down again. :( Seems to happen a lot with that site.
-
Unfortunately the very old server that has run the site finally has given up and died. It is beyond economical repair so the site will be run on a new server in 2025.
-
Maybe you could in the meantime redirect it to a simple static page on another server which says this?
Best regards,
Niels
-
We will be shortly, however it takes time to preload the new server and set the domains over Christmas holiday period.
-
I’ve never been able to log into that site anyway even after responding to confirmation email it says account disabled or not enabled yet.
-
Hope it isn't down so long it ends up going the way this site has.

@IanP
What is wrong with this site? It is active, no trolling, good community members and a great place to discuss anything Amiga.
-
Yes, this site is good, AmigaWorld has been mostly pointless flamewars for years though unfortunately :-(
-
What happened to this site is what's about to happen to AmigaWorld; a protracted period of outage leading to members migrating to the English Amiga Board, Facebook and Discord!
-
@BigD
This site seems busy with many contributors enjoying discussion here.
-
But why run such sites on fragile bare metal installations?!
-
I dont know why, but I do like amigaworld the most out of all the community site, it got the news, and some generally interesting discussions, debates.
Its by far the forum I post on the most and check the most. I do check up on amiga.org / EAB forum now and again. But dont post much. There is something about amigaworld that makes me go back there. So I hope its back up soon.

I don't want to be that guy, but this isn't busy. Believe me, I was here when it was busy. You had to keep your finger on the refresh button just to keep up, lol.

bring back moobunny!
-
@Karlos
This was in the days before social media took over from traditional forum websites. Given that AMIGA.org competes against mainstream social media platforms, it is doing well.
-
The most pointless site...but good arguing...
-
Moobunny was ... unique. One or two very unhinged posters on there.

Are we sure ppcamiga1 isn’t Thierry?
-
@amigakit
Personally I never liked the way amiga.org's mainpage was changed on the "new" version... I know it's only a click away from the forums / news but for some stupid reason it never felt the same for me...

-
I wonder how much page rank this site loses for not having the home page served securely.
-
It needs active moderators. Trolls kills sites..
-

I'm not even sure Thierry was Thierry most of the time, at least on moobunny. So easy to impersonate someone else on there.

Is amigaworld.net down for everyone?
It's back up now. No new posts after 27 Dec (at time of writing).
-
@F0LLETT
If you want to take over the amigaworld.net server I'll step away in a heartbeat.
You can send me a public key and an IP address from which you wish to login (through Matthew would probably be best), I'll setup an account with sudo privileges and it can be all yours for the principle sum of $0.
-
@thread
No panic. Just an observance of a point in time.
"It's not just you! amigaworld.net is down.

I've had a pending registration on that site for months now, and never once received a confirmation email.
Now if I try to register again, most of the registration page is text boxes with no caption to indicate what they're for.
Which is a shame because most of my friends are on there, as well as ppcamiga1 who is unlikely to be a friend but seems fun.
Is there any chance at all that the site could be fixed?
-
@amigakit or whom it may concern,
When you get a chance, could you please address what's happened to Amigaworld.net?
btw-report function at AW still not working.
Thank you.

Since Amigaworld has once again been assaulted with hundreds of bumps of ancient threads and no one in management has even made a comment about this...
I'll quote Trevor from the time of the purchases:
I also believe that both community forums should be run by the members for the benefIt (benefit) of the members.

As there is no management and no staff (ergo no members in charge), I'd like to ask how you propose to deal with situations such as this?
Thanks for your reply.
