Title: Idefix free or not..
Post by: Jope on March 23, 2004, 08:58:34 PM
Hi,

I remember seeing a link to an Idefix'97 serial here, but is it legal or not?

If it is, can someone repost the link?

www.elaborate-bytes.com doesn't give the real deal any more, is it still the same company?

The link is on www.amigarealm.com and has been made available by Power Computing (www.powerc.com) long ago. There was a discussion about legality back then but I don't remember it.

Thomas: Can you be more specific, doing a search on their site turns up nothing, and there is nothing obvious from the front page.

I emailed EB about a year and a half ago regarding IDEFix and they sent me ordering instructions.  So, if nothing has changed it's still commercial.  Send them an email and see what they say.

I wonder if Elaborate Bytes would be interested in porting their (really awesome) CloneCD/CloneDVD software to the Amiga.  I knew the guys who wrote IDEFix and Clone CD had the same name, but I didn't know they were the same people.

Kinda says it all! :-D

Seriously, though, it can harldy be called piracy when it's impossible to buy the software anymore... :|

You can still buy it bundled with 4-way IDE adapters. I don't know if it is the full version with registration number or a special OEM version which only works with special hardware.

Bye,
Thomas

That's the reason why the software is called IDE-max now.
