Title: A1200.net partners and discussion
Post by: Boing-ball on September 26, 2024, 07:38:03 PM
Just to make you all aware of the different partners that A1200.net deal with:

https://www.a1200.net/partners/

Maybe worth discussions anything to do with their products here and to give those who sell the A1200.net products.

Remember this? Did it happen yet?

Wasn’t aware of this. I know there is discussion on other forums about a potential A600 cases being made if there are enough people who place orders…

Although not available (Yet) looks to be a good price for A1200.net cases:

Thanks for this, we work very closely with them behind the scenes and glad they are on board with us, also there is another company coming on board :-) It's worth mentioning, we are the EU/US/CA distributor for A1200.net for these cases and keycaps. So any wholesale interest will now come to us.

So do contact any Amiga reseller or other retro sellers to see if they want to stock these, we have also invested heavily in setting up a distribution centre in the Netherlands to ship out stock to the EU and beyond so no brexit or customs issues, oh and we also accept Euros, US and CA dollers :-)

When others jump on board we will update this thread to notify others they can purchase the cases from their favorite Amiga seller as well as us.

TIA!

There’s quite a bit frustration because of new cases showing up when original kickstarter/indiegogo contributers still have not received what they already paid for years and years ago. It doesn’t help that the perhaps most significant stretch goal still hasn’t been fulfilled (afaik).

A lot of talk about A1200.net delivering what they promise over on the Amibay Forum. Will be interesting to see what comes from those who resell the cases as per the A1200.net partners page.

Kolla has a point, some of us have been waiting over 6 years and now they are doing more cases and caps, without delivering cases and caps from 6 years ago.
Very frustrating.

Well, I've just pre-ordered a black case+keycaps from RetroPassion, despite still waiting on 2 keycaps sets from the original *2016* Kickstarter.

I won't be very happy if there's a huge keycap delay on this one, as it's a pre-order rather than backing a crowdfunder, but it seemed the best hope of getting a matching case+keycaps any time soon. I'd recently been close to ordering a case from the other side of the world (RetroKit in Australia had a few in stock), but a black or grey case with original yellowed keycaps would just have been taunting me about the keycaps that weren't.

In some ways it might have been better if the keycaps crowdfunder was just written off as a failure years ago, perhaps during Covid. It happens, that's the nature of crowdfunding. If anything, it's been way more frustrating to see seemingly dozens of other projects/production runs by A1200.net, which have repeatedly whooshed past while keycaps remain stalled, years after Covid was a valid justification.

And are we seriously seeing fresh production runs of black keycaps for sale from partners before the CD32-colour keycaps and other variants from that 2016 Kickstarter are manufactured?! Is it really going to hit a decade and still be 'they're coming...'?

But on the other hand, a lot of people *have* received quality products from them, a lot of Amigas have been freed from their old yellowed shells, some even have shiny new keycaps - so they've done a lot of good for the Amiga community. I've had one case myself already. It's just a shame that the keycaps became such a problem.

Yep. Wouldn’t want to be a vendor/reseller for A1200.net. I bet they are getting hassled, thinking that reseller are A1200.net. Ooooppps! 🙄

Huh? I'm sure that would be obvious if the domain isn't a1200.net.

Thanks for sharing, they also have the Black and White units with Black Keycaps (FR) layout :-)

The stock of keycaps will be leaving China soon so we will be sending out stock to other resellers Jan 2025 :-)

Alinea shop in Germany also sell the A1200.net Asahi cases as well:

https://www.amiga-shop.net/en/Amiga-Hardware/Amiga-Cases/Asahi-Amiga-1200-cases::1309.html

If they get the keycaps then those who wish a broader Amiga buying experience will have more choice.

Have used these before. So one of the places I will be buying my gear from :)
