I don’t believe these gremlins have been reported.
1. In Amibench prefs I changed the default desktop size, not that it’s relevant but chose 150%, rebooted and on restart none of the desktop icons would open, double clicking or otherwise. Restored from backup and all works as it should.
2. I installed Skidmarks before the official update and it worked fine. After the update when you try to start Skidmarks it just hangs on a white screen. Unfortunately you cannot delete Skidmarks and start again, having said that what the necessity when it should just run.
Hope this feedback is helpful.

1. Why do that, simply change screenmode to 1280x720.
2. Check there is no savestate, set to "start from scratch". It does sit on a white screen for around 30 seconds. AROS use white / grey screen, while commodore roms use black screen while loading stuff.

In response to screenmode Amibench wont let you select other modes, you click test and the message is "the test screen could not be opened"
Skidmarks fixed even though I've never played it by clearing saves (although there shouldn't be any) and loads a few seconds after a black screen.

I was able to set it to 1280x720.
I selected A600GS:1280x720x32 RGBA and clicked on use, it said something about screen mode has not been tested, I clicked OK and then it said Intuition could not update the screen until all windows were closed, I had to click on the calendar, clock and dock utilities and close each one in turn to allow it to update the screen but it worked perfectly.
Then I went back intro screen mode prefs and clicked on save, so AmiBench now boots in 1280x720 every time.

Thanks for the information, that makes sense why changes aren’t made when apps are running.
