Is there a way to install MUI? I tried installing once, broke the whole Amibench, had to restore from backups
I’d like to have a web browser of some kind, I hear IBrowse is the best.
-
Had the same thing happening.
For me the restore to default doesn't work. When i click for example the V46 it directly reboots.
Was able to delete some mui stuff and Amibench started up again.
The installerNG did hang with ibrowse installation.
I did install a new installer (from aminet) and tried Ibrowse installer. After a few clicks it says need kick3.0 rom.
greetings from Holland.

Which versions of MUI did you try to install?
-
InstallerNG was crapping out on me on basically every install, so I installed Installer-43_3.lha from Aminet, which let me actually install things without crashing
The MUI version I installed was mui38usr.lha from Aminet
After which the A600GS wouldn't boot in to Amibench, so I updated the A600GS firmware and restored from defaults, which made it work again.
IBrowse installation finishes nicely (if I assign MUI: to where I installed MUI previously) but it won't start, it gives me an error on one of the MUI modules/classes/something

Did you keep the MUI on your Amibench?
If yes, could I ask you a little favour?

Are you sure Amibench and the OS will run 68K version of the MUI Version 3.8? It may need a higher version such as 4.0 or 5.0.
Personally I use version 3.9 but only on a real Amiga.

Never seen 3.9, where is it from?

I am not sure at all, I have no idea how AmiBench actually works.
I guess it is AROS based somehow, but I'm not really sure what that actually means re: using and installing Amiga software - I have never used AROS before although I do know what it is.

From the Ibrowse Download page
https://www.ibrowse-dev.net/download.php
Be aware that you will need to use Stackattack if using Poseidon USB stack or you get issues with stack memory. Updated in 2015 and has many of MUI parts now built in that are missing on Version 3.8.

Installed mui 3.9. Installation went ok.
But after a reboot.... aros screen and no amibench.
Ibrowse installation went ok with the old installer. But start with an error.

This was my experience, too, although with MUI 3.8

You do not need to install MUI, just take its libraries and put them in relavent Zune drawer.
Installing MUI will trash Amibench.

Which drawer would that be without fiddling with assigns and so on :) ?

Zune. Zune is aros's version of MUI. Do not install MUI. Just put its libraries in the correct drawers in Zune drawer.

I know WHAT Zune is but I cannot find any drawer with that name on the System Partition :'(

Thanks, will try :)

Ok, so I got iBrowse opening now but it´s not displaying anything ... will investigate further at the weekend with a fresh install I guess :)
-
Just did a quick search using Dopus and found Zune in System46:Classes
Sorry just seen this had been answered

I've totally removed AmiBench before and replaced it with 68k AROS which seemed to work better than AmiBench, this was when I first got the A600GS... a few days after Kickstart 02... I need to setup a dedicated linux machine to play with it properly... my spare laptop which dual boots Linux Mint and Windoze 11 is currently out on loan to a relative so he can do training via Zoom.

SYS:Classes/Zune
Is where the classes go, but please don't overwrite and of the AROS Zune classes within as the later generic 68k builds are not 100% compatible.
