<---"I drank THIS much!!!!"
I Just had to try out my new avatar....
Oh, and while I'm at it I think we should get more icon space on amiga.org. It was kind of hard to fit this anim into 16k, however not nearly as hard as fitting it into the 6k aw.net gives you.

<-- Animated avatars rock....
/me hides to avoid beating for terrible pun...
@Vincent
That little ranting dude in your tagline still makes me chuckle, even after all this time!

@Karlos
I like the freaky lighting effect in your last two avatars, wish I could figure out how to do that kind of stuff.
-
Cheers dude :-)
As for the lighting, it's basically done using nothing more sophisticated than a circular gradient fill, the kind I'm sure we've all have played with in DPaint :-)
-edit-
This turned into a Karlos' "How to..." :lol:
I have one such circular fill for the background, which doesn't change from frame to frame.
Then on top of that I put whatever sillouette (spelling?) moving, in this case, weebl a character from my fave webcomic.
Lastly I put another fill over the top, exactly aligned with the background. This one has transparency - opaque in the centre and transparent at the edge.
This one only occurs in some frames and the idea is to make it appear when the bright spot in the backround gets uncovered by the moving object. Just for a bit of extra detail, I shrink it over a frame or two as the background bright spot is eclipsed. Overall, it's supposed to give an impression of a lensflare glowy type thing (excuse the gratuitous technical terminology :lol: )
The arse is fitting it into 16000 bytes, but since these images essentially use a faily basic light to dark palette, I get away with it by reducing the colours (only 48 in this gif).

@Karlos
Thanks dude...might have to give it a go...sadly I'm not the artistic type all my drawings in primary school were in greyled, just the way I like it, grey...ha ha...;-)

Yes, I know *just* what you mean. I added a splash of colour to appease the regular homo sapiens...:lol:
*notices something behind the 1200T*
Oooooh, a box of fusioncrackers....
Muhahahahaaaa.....
-edit-
Aw crap, this batch are from some Russian source. Just tried one and it was a dud :-(
-
@Karlos
:laugh: :laugh: :laugh:
...forgot all about the fusioncrackers...hahahahahahahaaaaa...cough...excuse me
-
Well, I have a knack of remembering obscure things long after they stopped being funny to most other people ;-)
-
@Adz
*strange glassed over eyes*
I love the simpsons. I love the simpsons. I love the simpsons. I love the simpsons. I love the simpsons....
-
Ahhh...you noticed my pathetic attempt at humour...
I was messing with animated gifs, trying to make an animated bouncing boing ball, obviously it didn't go so well.

Oh well, you can't please everyone...still makes me laugh though...
Kewl, that makes 600 :pint:
-
:lol:
So what was wrong with the bouncing ball? The biggest problem I usually end up with is fitting the animation into the size limit...
-
I managed to create a really nice 3D ball and made 5 gifs with it getting progressively smaller, then I animated it. It really looked like someone was bouncing a small ball in the middle of my screen, problem was it was white on a black screen (just the way I like it), not very colourful, so I wanted to turn the white ball into a boing ball, this is where I encountered problems. I just couldn't seem to get it to look right, so I abandoned my project in disgust. I guess I'm just not artist material :-(
-
Well, it just comes to fiddling around. Besides, boing ball is done to death :-D

True, but I may as well follow the pack, seems to be the trendy thing these days...
-
<----- Thanks to Karlos I now have a rather nifty looking avatar :-D
-
Yea,
He quite good with his hands, huh?
And only 16k...
(now if i could only use a flash macro-media icon)

Er.....:blush: That could mean anything :-D :lol:
And only 16k...
Low kalorie animation is kinda fun :-) The only balance for animgif is between number of colours and the area that changes from one frame to the next.
Also, I generally work each frame say 2x larger and scale down to get nice antialiasing. Actually over did it for adz boing ball, ended up 12K with 256 colours, so I could have actually made it a little larger...
