Title: Why do all AmigOS 4.1 browsers crash on WinUAE?
Post by: kaarlo52 on August 02, 2024, 01:29:20 PM
Small pages work IBrowse, Netsurf, OWB.
But larger pages fail.

Something you need to take up with Hyperion who develop Amiga OS 4.1

Plus its being emulated.

Besides could be anything and nothing to do with WinUAE or OS4.1.
Could be rogue libraries or obj files. Who knows.

Do not configure swap space. Do not use a swap partition and if you add Z3 RAM make sure it is used as system RAM and not as swap space. As soon as AmigaOS starts swapping it becomes unstable.

Using WinUAE to emulate OS4 is a thing of the past. The best and more stable solution right now is using qemu. It works much beter and more stable, emulating the Pegasos 2/AmigaOne/Sam460. Check out the discussions on amigans.net to find more information, and head there to find people to help you set up a better environment.

It’s no different on the real hardware that is emulated, so…

The OS4 variant of Roadshow has now existed through just about the entire lifetime of the Roadshow for 68k product… without being updated. I just don’t grasp why Olsen can not release updates for OS4 on same schedule as for OS3, all the “need for coordination” with Hyperion is pointless.

The bigger the page the more ram it uses, its the same on PC if ram is the problem, you have bigger pages now with more stuff on them so uses more ram, that why I have 8GB in my PC, it would not handle it then Windows would crash, it does it on my Windows 10 PC that has 3 GB ram in it plus it shares the ram with the graphics card because its built in too.

I have Amiga OS 4.1 FE in WinUAE, I made a setup for it so all you do is install it and its all setup for you, I be releasing it when I have finished with it but it will come with no CD so you have use your own Amiga OS 4.1 FE CD, the HDF is already formatted in SFS so you just install Amiga OS 4.1 FE and that it, it makes it alot easier, you run it from its shortcut on the desktop `Run Amiga OS 4.1 FE PC` so you install it using the shortcut then after that you run it with it, just have not been able to get a network on it yet, any tips how...?

This way if I have to remove it at any time I can just install it again, simples.... :)

I really meant that AmigaOS 4.1 crashes not WinUAE.
