Title: OS3.2.2.1 and mpega library
Post by: F0LLETT on April 06, 2024, 10:02:24 PM
I have spend last 2 weeks trying to solve this. Has any one else been having issues RAMLIB guru/error?

Fresh 3.2.2.1 install with 3.2.2.1 roms. Im running a PiSTORM CM4.
I install, MUI3 (also tried 5), then ahi (which is working fine), then MPEGA.library (tried 020, 040, 040FPU), then Eagle Player (as AmigaAMP3 wont even load, same RAMLIB error).
Now on a setup as close to CM4 (as I could make it) in WinUAE, all works fine.

As soon as I try to load AmigaAMP3, it seems like it tries to access MPEG lib, then gives RAMLIB error.
In EaglePlayer, as soon as I select an MP3, same RAMLIB error.

Have you installed Thors MMULibs?

ThoR’s mmu and cpu libs serve no purpose with PiStorm, so probably not.

At least one obvious and important detail is missing - Emu68 or Musashi?

I kinda doubt it’s actually related to OS 3.2.2.1 as topic suggests, but … have older OS releases been tried?
(I kinda suspect self-modifying code in mpega.library) Btw, doesn’t Raspberry Pi have hardware for accelerated mpeg (and h264 and others) and if so, wouldn’t a dedicated mpega.library make sense?

Emu68. Vanilla 3.2.2.1 using mpega library that is recommened from aminet.
No MMU libraries as Emu68 doesnt have MMU (Yet).

I also tried putting files on floppy, same issue, tried older roms, same issues.

Hence why I'm asking here, as no one has complained of issues playing MP3's on OS3.2.2.1. However, everyone tends to use Caffiene OS. Not for me, rather have system I have setup myself.
As I say, same setup work perefectly on WinUAE. I have also tried down clocking CM4 and removed all command line options. Still same results. Driving me nuts.

I could try musashi, but then its alot of hassle to setup and convert drives to images. etc etc.

I will see if it happens on my 3.2.2.1 setup with a Mediator and PiStorm with Pi4. I think I did put this on and it worked….

It is an odd one, as I have never had issues like this before. Then again, never tried playing MP3 at all.

I've tried EaglePlayer on my PiStorm/Pi4 set up (the version of EaglePlayer that comes with ClassicWB as I rarely play MP3s and use HippoPLayer when I do) and it worked without any issues.

Version of software:
EaglePlayer: 2.06
mpega.library: 2.4
Emu68: 1.0
Kickstart: 47.111

I've never seen a RamLib error.

Never seen ramlib on newer Roms. Hence I was "whats going on here".

Anyway solved. Turned out, there was something wrong with 3.1.4, 3.2, 3.2.1, 3.2.2 images I had. Really odd, as if there was a rom issue, ishouldnt even boot?
I took 3.2 rom straight from my 3.2 cd and it worked straight away (except icon lib could not read png icons).

So I downloaded fresh 3.2.2.1 hotfix and pulled rom apart, added workbench and icon library. Booted and everything worked fine. Final test will be to try AmigaAMP3.

Glad you fixed it…

For a fast Icon Library I now use this. Tonnes better…
